miamijimf
More about Morgan Richter, I enjoy her reviews but don't always agree. A post from her. Anyone remember Talk Soup? I don't.
Robbie C.
I vaguely remember Talk Soup. It wasn't anything to write home about in my view.
Bren10
I used to see it on E! when I was following the Howard Stern show. I mostly remember the John Henson period. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk_Soup
Bren10
Well, here's another doozy. She makes a good observation for the prop re-use thread. Don't know if anybody caught that before. I don't know if I would've watched this show, and I am a Jump Street fan myself. Honestly, even if this show had been picked up, I can't see it going past one season. TylerDurden389
Didn't get into Talk Soup at first (I would always catch the last few minutes because I wanted to watch the show after it, the name of which eludes me. But it was a fake Talk Show program with actors and it was hilarious). Eventually I finally gave Talk Soup a fan and realized instantly that I loved it. I taped a handful of episodes, including the last one with John Henson that she shared that picture of. One Henson left, I lost interest. He was supposed to get his own tv show but he disappeared for a while, then when he came back to tv, the show he was on was cancelled rather quickly. I loved "The Soup" many years later, but when they switched from Friday night to Wednesday night (airing at the same time as "South Park" back when there was no DVR, and SP still aired more than 8 episodes a season, lol) I had to bow out. miamijimf
Tyler - you should tell Morgan, she is on twitter or you can always leave a comment on her Youtube page. She has only one episode left to summarize - Freefall but after that she said she will start on 80s movies beginning next Friday May 8th. Check her Youtube page. Don't know what movies but I gave her some suggestions: Scarface (a must), The Specialist and Miami Blues (not 80s but same era), Nobody’s Perfekt, Absence of Malice, Stick, and others.

Sad that she's finished, but happy I can dip back into any of my favorites whenever I want.

airtommy
I just spent the week watching all of the reviews and I enjoyed them. She "gets" Vice and makes a lot of good points (and concisely). I found the S1 and S2 reviews were excellent. For S3 she made some very insightful points about the show's transition. By S4 I didn't like the reviews and by late S4 and all of S5 I found it to be a big chore just to get through them. I started doing other things as I was watching. I was surprised at how often she gave a strong rating to terrible S4/S5 episodes. "Crockett ruins a perfectly good cottage cheese and maraschino cherry salad. We ate some terrible, terrible foods in 1984." That weird salad bothered me subconsciously for 35 years, but it never crystalized in my head until she pointed it out. ====================================================================== Same exact thing with the title of "Knock, Knock... Who's There?": "awkwardly punctuated title which grates on my nerves every time I see it." ====================================================================== Maybe my biggest disagreement was when she said Bill Russell and Bernard King "both acquitted themselves well" in "The Fix". We had a ton of poor guest actors on Vice, but only a select few who were so bad that they dragged down the episode. Bill Russell is one of those. He came across as a total moron, dumber even than your average jock, which is a big problem since he was playing the role of a judge. He was horrific. miamijimf
If you haven't read her blog go here: A http://preppiesoftheapocalypse.blogspot.com/2009/01/ten-things-that-make-miami-vice-awesome.html As airtommy wrote- she gets Vice. Good comments. Don't always agree but that is what makes life interesting. She is now reviewing 80s movies on her Youtube channel but not the ones I suggested yet.
TylerDurden389
I've been watching her reviews as I go through my run of the show. I'd say my opinions mirror hers for the most part. I'm on season 3 atm, and I'd say my only disagreement I've had is her thoughts on the end of "The Good Collar". Yeah, they could've ended with the typical freeze-frame, but seeing Sonny's reaction and how he deals with was important to see that the war on drugs was beginning to get to him. Sure, I would've preferred if they kept the tone of the first 2 seasons a little longer, but from a character standpoint, it was important for the show to go in this direction. Just sucks we didn't get more of that attention to detail for the rest of the Vice squad.
RedDragon86
I was looking at her reviews yesterday and I can't believe she gave "Buddies" 2 out of 5 almost 1 out of 5 but changed her score and also gave "One Way Ticket" 2 out of 5. "Cuba Libre" 3 out of 5? that is total polyfilla. I respect her opinions but nah. Edited July 5, 2021 by RedDragon86
vicegirl85
Yeah, I watched all of her reviews and sometimes disagreed with her comments and ratings! It's often good to look at things from an alternative POV, and it was definitely interesting (to me) to discover when and why her interpretations were different from mine (not that I generally changed my mind, LOL!).
