The Prop Re-use Thread

Hey my dear fellow Vicers, there was mentioning of clothing pieces being re-used on different characters in some posts I read here recently, so I thought let's start an individual thread for it and extend it to all kinds of props, like clothing, accessories, jewelry, cars, boats, furniture, weapons, any kind of equipment...you name it. Let's put it all in one place rather than have it scattered all across the forum. Could be fun...let's see how long it takes until we run out of catches. Feel free to re-post stuff that was mentioned before elsewhere, e.g. the bed from "Definitely Miami" etc.

I start with the Aston Martin driven by Tubbs in "The Walk-Alone", which re-appears four episodes later as Famiglia's car in "Baby Blues"

Good eye, pal!

The first re-used item crossing my mind is the black leather sofa inside Marty´s office. I am pretty sure it was also seen in Payback, when Sonny was under suspicion and complaining about the heat.

Sometimes Castillo’s sofa is brown!

that's severe malpractice on the part of Mr. No Earth Tones!

The sofa was also available in blue btw. :p This is not in Marty's office though

“La Muerta” was the first Person to wear Crockett’s season 3 Persol shades in “Free Verse”.

She looks way better in them than me. :p

...and Tubbs wears them for a few seconds in "Viking Bikers from Hell" after Crockett hands them to him for safekeeping while he goes roughin' up the bad guys

As from what I know, the Persol shades were also re-used in the season 4 Death and the Lady episode by Milton Glantz (played by Paul Guilfoyle).

Sorry, don't have the exact picture right now ;(

I don't want to be repetitive since I already mentioned this fact in a couple of posts before but since we got this new thread I think these facts also deserve some attention.

- Crockett's t-shirt from the 3rd season episode Baby Blues (filmed around July - August 1986) appeared earlier in Band of the Hand (which premiered in April of the same year), a film which is closely tied to Miami Vice in many aspects.

- In the same film, Crockett's Ebel wristwatch was also worn by the character played by James Remar.

By any chance is this the same Mercedes limo seen in "Bought and Paid For" Calderone's in Brother's Keeper?

These are all Carrera 5512 shades, but three different pairs.

1. Sonny’s have the logo blacked out with rose gradient lenses (Rico does wear these in “Cool Runnin’”)

2. Rico’s have flat lenses to reduce reflection on set (like Sonny’s Wayfarers).

3.  The barista’s shades have blue logo and stripes.

Regarding the re-use of props reminds me of visiting Warner Bros studios years ago.  They took us to the prop warehouse, which was gigantic.  They kept props and clothes from every production by the studio.  There were several reasons for it, but the only one I remember was in case they do a sequel or continuation of a show.  My guess is the other studios have the same thing.

nope....Calderone's was a stretched Mercedes S 126 series which was built from 1980-91, the one in "Bought and Paid For" is based on the previous model.

Could be 3 different cars to this Lambo amateur.

GT Lambo has the US spec side reflectors and the 1985 rear bumper markings.

BaPF Lambo I don't see the US spec side reflectors and the bumper appears to from an 1986.

The 3rd car has both the US spec side reflector and the US spec impact rear bumper and the markings for an 86 as well.

Called my uncle, his take on the possibility of different cars.

Done all the time, make sure you have a backup when using an exotic. Probably due to how the scene was broken up and filmed in Miami. Or how the owner/dealer allowed what you could do and not do with their car. It's why see average cars the vast majority of times in chases, no production wants to shell out $250K when they tear up Dr. Bob's 86 5000S
