Now I figured out what was bugging me about the MV cars 1978 - 1982 seats, its the black pinstripinghttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4480&stc=1&d=1312664487it makes it seem like there should be a point higher than the pinstriping on the seat, which protrudes over the seat itself and is higher than the rest of the seat making it look unbalanced http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3945&stc=1&d=1308724338which makes it looks like something is missing which is why on the fiero seat it just looked right to me with the pinstriping and the built in headrest that sits above ithttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4318&stc=1&d=1310636386and that explains why in the case of Sonny's car which doesnt have the pinstriping looks fine to me along with this mcburniehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4483&stc=1&d=1312664640http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4481&stc=1&d=1312664489http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4479&stc=1&d=1312664485http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4485&stc=1&d=1312664705So what I'm thinking is that if I want to go for the 1978 MV car seats I'd go for the Subdued Pilot striping from the pilot here http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4330&stc=1&d=1310743219No Pinstripes and add the leather strap to the back top half of it http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3945&stc=1&d=1308724338But not the carpet on the bottom as I dont want to overload the seats with black accents and I think I know why the markadian headrest was removed. when you look at the shape of the seat it looks like it would go against the angle you sit in the seat athttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4479&stc=1&d=1312664485

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12jv0_2-flics-a-miami-daytona-3_auto(3:30)forcing your neck to go further forward rather than line up with the rest of your back, as you can see when Don lies back in the daytona a few times throught the show he leans back into the seat and his neck is lined up with his back, while with the markadian headrest it doesnt look like he could have done that. so while I liked the look of the headrest it may have been uncomfortabile so I wouldnt try that with the 1978 - 1982 seats, however I'd still like to try it with the Fiero Seats since they sit lower and maybe make it so its not as thick, thus preventing the back problem from happening.and after looking at the seats of this rowley, while I like the look of the headrest the rowley seats have they look like one of those torture devices they used in medeval times, the rack I think it was called http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4482&stc=1&d=1312664491

Now while I have some new ideas for the mirrors, the nose and the interior after looking at the lamborghini section of the ferrari forums:http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163765&page=192 I want to look at something different here, lets look at the rear end of the car, now what I'm thinking of going with for sure its the 7 1/2 inch ferrari labeling on the top of the trunk as camera pointed out.Eingefügtes Bildand a single reverse light to let people know I'm reversing the thing, however I want to mount it lower than the rear bumpers to give the lower half of the rear end some depth as looking at the MV car it just seemed like something was missing down there to mehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4533&stc=1&d=1313473228Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildthus keeping the area around the rear licence plate looking nice and clean like in this shothttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4535&stc=1&d=1313473629and also giving the lower half of the car some depth but regarding the prancing horse badge it looks good either way, with or without it but just for the sake of staying within the idea of creating the 3rd season car that never was I wouldnt go with it, plus its one less area I'd have to clean around.Oh and I nearly forgot I do also want to have a Chrome tag light like the MV car had which showed up in the night scenes of S1 occasionallyEingefügtes Bild

Now with the rear tail lights I'd like to have them set up like the way it is now on the camera car and Sonny's carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4536&stc=1&d=1313475703http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4534&stc=1&d=1313473232the reason being that while I do like the look of the red running lights in the pilothttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4540&stc=1&d=1313475910it doesnt make sense from a logical standpoint to have the turn signals be the ones closest to the tag since if they were on the outer part of the car they could provide more crucial light to the sides of the car that would show up in the mirrors when turning into a sideroad with the blinkers onplus it just seems to make more sense to have the outers be the yellow ones because of the fact that the turn signal indicatiors in the front are automatically on when you turn the headlights onhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4537&stc=1&d=1313475706http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4538&stc=1&d=1313475708http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4539&stc=1&d=1313475709but the ideal inbetween would be to have them placed like they are now on the camera car and still have the yellow ones be the driving lights/turn signals (if you wanted to stay in the spirt of the camera car in the show) however I just kinda like the idea of having the driving lights be the red ones like in the pilothttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4541&stc=1&d=1313476197so I'd probably go along with that and the current set up of the camera carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4536&stc=1&d=1313475703Eingefügtes Bild

Now with the exhaust pipes I think the reason why they were moved from the outside of the car inwards was to make space for the camera rig, as in season 2 there was a few shots of the car taken from the rear wheels like in "florence Italy" here and over the trunk like in "Sons And lovers"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXzDDTPz9XYand the placement of the pipes in the pilot would have blocked where the huge camera rig was probably ment to gohttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4556&stc=1&d=1313562791http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4557&stc=1&d=1313562835but I think I'd primarily like to go with the pilot look because it reminds me of the lamborghini 400's distinct horizontal tail pipe profile which after looking at Rod Stuarts Markadian Countach might not have a conicdence considering theres a good chance they might have imported a few into the states along with the countach in the 1980's, plus a few ferrari's since they obiviously had access to a ferrari daytona to make the car 1 and car 4, and the lamborghini 400 gt is about the same vintage as the daytonahttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4540&stc=1&d=1313475910http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/at-the-garage/sports-cars/1967-lamborghini-400-gt-2-2/and it would also cover up the stock corvette suspension, which might have been another reason why they set it up like that when they first made the carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4560&stc=1&d=1313563294 plus in the pilot it just looked really nice from the side and gave the short rear end of the car which is most noticeable in phil collins scene at 2:01

and the drive down to the gladeshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuHYB8iLRuo a nice sort of accentuating profile with the chrome sticking out from the sideshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4558&stc=1&d=1313563290 which seemed to disapear at night with the tail pipes further in post pilot and as a sidenote I'd also like to have them mounted not only on the rear suspension like the were on the camera car, but also on the rear end just under where they stick out like on this car.Eingefügtes Bildhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4559&stc=1&d=1313563291instead of freefloating like aboveBut another alternative would be just to move them closer to the sides of the car to keep the same profile from the side like the rowley car above the camera car here but also have the chrome stick out on the side like it did in the pilotmaybe like move them over so there just under the middle of the bumpers rather than on the tag ends hereEingefügtes Bildlike just where the red brake lights are, that might work as well and it might also give the rear end a nice symmetry, now there is a third option but ill go into that latter.

Now with the headlights I kind of had a eureka moment today, you see I do like the way the square headlights give off light at night Eingefügtes Bildits just there seems to be a chrome over problem with them in the daytime where they seem to be too shiny and stick out from the body in a bad way like here at a distance:Eingefügtes Bildyet upclose they look like this which I like:Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildwhich is really quite perplexing although it could be the doubled reflection of the headlight lenses caused by the chrome infront of the headlights directing more light up into the headlight itself causing the problem, making them chrome over like thatI mean look at how the car looks when the light is not directly hitting the headlightsEingefügtes BildNice and sleak just like the best scenes of S1yet then compare it to when the light does hit the area infront of the headlightshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4371&stc=1&d=1311298575 so judging by the car in the gallery posted by ace with the light hitting it from pretty much the same angle without the chome I think that for the most part the chrome bucket infront of the headlights like on the koenig car here could be doing ithttp://www.koenig-specials.com/homepage%20neu/navigation%20neu%20englisch.htmEingefügtes Bildcould being the key wordEingefügtes Bildbut anyways what I'm getting on about is that I may have found an ideal inbetween between the headlight covers and the plexyglass to prevent that chroming over problem by simply using both to create the effect the smoked plexyglass had in the second season in its best shots.Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildwithout any of the drawbacks simply looking at the one with the headlight covers it doesnt look as nice as the really dark smoked plexyglass the show car had because of the cuts for the headlight covers and how the badge is sort of sunk into the nose which causes light to reflect off of it in a not very pleasing wayEingefügtes Bildand then when you want to drive it at night well this is what it looks like if you part it under a street light:Eingefügtes Bildso what I'm thinking is that to get the same effect of the smoked plexyglass had in its best angles in S2 I'd to simply put a lightly smoked plexyglass cover OVER the headlight covers, something along the lines of this and you can kinda see what I mean by the chrome over problem with this onehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4619&stc=1&d=1314045652so you'd have the badge and the headlight covers appear to be completely even yet still get the same effect it had at night and the reason why it would have to be smoked if you wanted to copy the apperance of it in S1 is because, well when the cars not running the vacuum seal for the covers kinda sags in an unflattering wayhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4618&stc=1&d=1314045650 and I think the smoked plexyglass would cover this up, although to get the S1 look at night I would have to look into either getting the system a 100% reliable so it doesnt do that when the cars shut off or look into another method for it now this is one of three, maybe four major ideas I have for the headlight covers to make the square headlights work as I really liked the effect they gave off at night its just that the chrome over problem really kinda irks me in the daytime and the next one is really kinda simple.

Now with the headlights of the actual car and the rowley corvette they actually appear to be more opaque than the square headlights, not unlike a common light bulb vs a clear lightbulb.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4642&stc=1&d=1314439817http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4645&stc=1&d=1314439822http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4646&stc=1&d=1314439865and on the countachhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4643&stc=1&d=1314439819thus preventing the chroming over problem that's a problem with square headlighted cars as I just I saw this very car while driving back from the grocery store and I swear it was this very one

a red foxbodied mustang and the headlights chromed over from the same angle the miami vice car looked good to me and it was about the same distance too (as a matter of fact they've chromed over in that video too as you can see) and FYI there is a good chance it could be the same car from that video, that place is about 200 - 300 miles away from me and they've said in their videos they'd be willing to deliver it to anywhere in the us and it was sold and what are the chances of a random bright red and black 1986 mustang with exactly that same color combination showing up around route 290 of all places in my neck of the woods, very slim to say the least
basically I want to have this be the permanent look of the headlights at the begining here by having the lenses made more opaque like on the actual car and the rowley corvette'sfyi these are the same guys that had the testarossa videos up awhile back seen here.
also two new corvette videos poped up too
and while I havent gotten into this I kinda want to go with a manual 4 speed car with this shift pattern since this 4 speed just showed up
-R 1 4---2 3rather than the Testarossa'sR 2 41 3 5Since its going to be spending most of its time in american traffic, not the autostrada so there'd be alot of shifting between 1st and 2nd and I dont want to have to go al the way over to reverse like this like it is on the lamborghini countach and the miura1 3 52 4 Rsince that would be a pain in the ass, plus with that setup I'd really want a reverse lockout of some sort since that really makes me nervious having revese so close to a high driving gear, with the R and then 1 of the ferrari it doesnt seem so bad but even then I'd seriously consider having some sort of lockout put on then too.and have it modified to be a hidden 5 speed car like leno did with his challenger http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/at-the-garage/muscle-cars/1970-dodge-challenger-rt-update/R 1 4 5--2 3for highway driving and better gas mileage, although I'd like to get rid of that shift pattern thing next to it yet somehow still have it there for referenceinterestingly enough Ferrari themselves went with a similar shift set up for there widely loved Ferrari F355 http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCuuc7xBSBHnE_cLqdQt0cALAamF_jJZ6wjKlASAtHVGCxNZUwAwthat's considered by many to be the last great ferrari before all of this electronic crap kicked in.and I have to admit I'd be tempted to have the shift area gated like a ferrari since well this daytona replica with a manual shift looks like its missing something, although that might be more the fact that the cars got a faux ferrari dash that I honestly dont care for http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4649&stc=1&d=1314443956in addition to those ugly seats and door pannels which really bring the car down.and maybe even have an aluminium shift ball added to complete the look although testarossas seemed to have both black like the corvette shift balls and aluminium ones, so I guess either is correct

Ugh I think I'm going to take a break with this thread for awhile as I've got alot of ideas going back and forth through my head about this as its been something that's been on my mind since I first saw the daytona in the pilot awhile ago and thus its been causing me to flip flop on my ideas and the ideas I got from everyone here.so I'm sorry if it seems like I'm wragging on the actual car alot that people really love its just that theres some key things about it that irked me and I just couldnt figure out what it was but I finally figured it out the key things.now let me just say this I'm very greatful to everone whos helped me here and I'm sorry if I came across like its my way or the highway, everyones ideal car is a very subjective thing and theres no wrong way to go about it, its just this is my particular way and I didnt want to get bogged down with humbleness as I wanted to get my vision across of what my ideal daytona is hopefully going to turn out to be once I aquire one down the line, just like the bren ten and it aint going to be a vltor one ill tell you that with that particular subject.so what it comes down to is that I am going to go with a mcburnie like the vice car and have the grill pulled further in so its not over the chrome bumpers to get a good inbetween of the the best shots of the vice car mixed in with the actual ferrari and if I dont care for the shape of the grill I'd have it cut down to match my example here. No chrome infront of the headlights as it made the nose seem way to long when its really got quite a short nose and you can see that when you compaire jurrasics car to the way the car looked in the show in S2 and I'd want to have the headlights set up like the one in aces photos here as I just like the extra black that particular set up gives it.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/photoplog/index.php?c=5plus the more opaque headlight lenses if the car has the chrome over problem and I'm going to have the badge put in the same position as that one as theres just something I really like about it being up infront of the hood like that, if not ill just put in the middleand I'd like to go with a silverish plexyglass nose piece that looks like the warped plexyglass of the stuntcar herehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/screenshots/calderon120.jpglike in these photos of this rowley corvettehttp://www.indat.de/enzo/daytona.htmhttp://www.indat.de/enzo/e_anzeig.htmif not then ill go for the rowley corvette piece they used on the volo car to acomplish the same thing or go with the idea I had for the headlight cover/smoked plexyglass combo I thought upwith the mirrors I'm going to try and get a pair that's arched back as not to appear as flat as the tornado mirrors, specifically I want to try the countach mirrors on it which are the vilatoni Electric Turbo mirrors or the Baby Turbo mirrors painted up like they are on the 89' 25th aniversary countach mirrors, but they might have to be mounted where they are on jurrasics car for them to workor ill go with the chrome stock corvette mirrors of the rowley corvette above on both sides of the car unlike that one or the normal stock C3 Corvette mirrors painted black as I dont think I've ever seen a daytona replica with them and they might look really nice on itor try and rig up a hybrid of the rounder vilatoni mirrors mixed with the stem of the tornado mirrors like they did on the vice city car failing that i'll just go for the smaller baby tornado mirrors painted to perfectly match the body and also have part of the stem painted to match the body like on the 89' countachwhen it comes to the windshield I want to go with the chrome strip ontop of it mixed with the chrome around the winshield, except I want to get the chrome around the windshield painted to match the body as I just think it needs some extra plosihed up black therewith the spinners I want to go with the same style ones the vice car had with the zenith wire wheel caps, or go with a spinner thats the same style with this kind of cut in ithttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-SPINNERS-APPLIANCE-WHEELS-S-BAR-FINE-WIRE-ADAPTER-/200648202603?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb790996btire size I want to match the vice car as it had a very good looking stance to itwith the rear I want to reverse the tailights so yellow is on the outside and red is on the inside and I'd still have the driving lights made yellow and If I dont care for it ill just make red the drivng light and brake light 7 1/2 ferrari labeling on the top, reverse light inbetween the bumpers or below it and I'd go with the tail pipe of the vice car moved more over to the edges of the car and hard mounted to the rear or go with what jurrasic hasalso if the flares bother me in person I'm going to have it cut down to match the rowley cars, if not I'm going to leave them alone.and thats just my ideas for the exterior, which is half of the car!lol NOW I need a break.

Actually I think I'd rather go for the completely flat headlights after seeing this photo of aces carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4705&stc=1&d=1315624312like on the volo car here http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4706&stc=1&d=1315624313and its also exactly like that on the koenig testarossa's where honesly I think the square headlights of the markadian cars suit it better than the cicular pop up headlights of the stock testarossahttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4708&stc=1&d=1315624315http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4709&stc=1&d=1315624317or have them perfectly lined up and then have the headlight housing themselves arched to match the arc of the nose of the car like on this red one, which is actually how they look on the Vice City Stories car actuallyhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4707&stc=1&d=1315624314and you can tell that the nose is arched by the line just below the ferrari badge on the red one which is the most evident on the cars with headlight coversEingefügtes Bildhence why the Miami Vice car looked the best from the side to me but not from the front because of that gap between the headlights which the red car above rectifies, plus the chrome infront of the headlights which made the nose look much more square and longer than it really is, causing 2 of the three optical illusions on the nose that bugged me about it, the 3rd being the grill which was mounted too far forward making the nose look like an arrow head when the light hit both the top and the bottom of it at the same time like here in this shot.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4710&stc=1&d=1315625278although I'm not quite sure if the red cars headlight set up would be legal because it might divert the light into an oncoming drivers eyes, although that hasnt stopped them from not banning High intensity driving lights which are downright bliding when you drive towards them here in MA

Now with the plexyglass I want to go with the Rowley corvette piece that's currently on the Volo carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4725&stc=1&d=1316039865except cut to exactly match the opening on the nose for the headlights (as you can see its not entriely rectangular thus making the nose look less sleak from head onhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4721&stc=1&d=1316039779Not cut to match the size of the opening infront of the headlights Vs http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4723&stc=1&d=1316039783if they were.like on this onehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiNtLM4KUSsand I want to go with this because its a good combination of the best bits of the clear plexyglass and the smoked plexyglass put togetherhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4722&stc=1&d=1316039781http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4723&stc=1&d=1316039783alowing enough light to escape from the headlights for nightime driving, but still tinted enough to make the angle of the nose stick out instead of drawing attention to the opening for the headlights head on Eingefügtes Bildand thus making the car look as sleak as the smoked plexyglass without making the nose seem featureless head on, but yet allowing light to escape at nightand ontop of that I have a bonus here, I found video of that 76' mcburnie like car 1 minus the 1 inch chasis damage with the rowley nose piece driving around in the daytime

and the funny thing is that just like the tornado mirrors the vice car had, that plexyglass ONLY works on cars with square headlightshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4724&stc=1&d=1316039786and those small mirrors do look REALLY stupid on the 76' in that video and they only work on it at night when you cant see them but Ill go into why I think the countach mirrors would work a hell of alot better on a daytona replica that those next atleast when it comes to mounting them ontop of the door pannels like on Jurrasics car and the rowley corvette car they use on their rowley GTC page, and yes I found that car for sale somewhere complete with close up photos of the interior and exterior so that'll be next to go under the magnifying glass.

Now with the mirrors I want to go with the ones that were used on the lamborghini countach, painted up the way they were used on the 25th aniversary countach IE painted to match the bodyhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4736&stc=1&d=1316381502http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4737&stc=1&d=1316381503http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4738&stc=1&d=1316381505and they are called the Vitiloni baby turbo mirrors and theres two versions of them and the other one is electric and called the electric turbo and harder to find and more expensive. these are about a 150 bucks, mind you these ones I found were painted already so that's probably why they were more expensive than the tornados but I also think they might also be the electric ones.and they were also used on the euro spec ferrari 308 Eingefügtes Bildbut the funny thing is that in addition to that two of the mirrors I've seen used on the daytona replicas have been used on miscellaneous 308's as wellthe tornado'sEingefügtes Bildand the ones that stick out too far like on my headlight example there with the tan roofEingefügtes Bildand if that's how those Vitiloni turbo mirrors look on the euro spec 308 (the ones without the stupid kit car like bumpers that make the 308 look like a kit car instead of a ferrari, IE the ones used on magnum PI) how good will they look on a daytona replica?!now as to why I want to have them painted to match the body look at this photohttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4725&stc=1&d=1316039865the matt black mirrors stick out against the gloss body and draw attention away from the sleakness of the bodyand even when there painted they do stick out against a sleak body, mind you nowhere near as much as the matt one thoughhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4739&stc=1&d=1316382268hence why I want to go with a sleaker looking mirror to match the body of the car and on brigher collored ones I think the entire mirror assembly needs to be painted so it doesnt stick out against a bright body.anyways the nice thing about these mirrors is that they could be mounted ontop of the door of the daytona like on jurrasics, or mounted on the side of the door like they were on the black 308 on this post of the miami vice car and still work from the looks of it.but if it doest work out ill just go with the smaller baby tornado mirrors and have the entire mirror assembly painted to match the black metallic body so it doesnt stick out against the gloss body.and the other thing is that the mirrors make or break the car, if their too small they make the car look to narrow and thus ruin the look of the body like with the other smaller Vitiloni mirrors that have a very weak looking stem on them like on this rowley corvette I keep coming back toEingefügtes BildVS Sonnys car with the baby tornado mirrors on ithttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4740&stc=1&d=1316400421vs the mirrors of that one with the headlight setup I kind of like that looks wrong from head on hence why I changed my mind about going with it.where the mirrors stick out TOO far from the body making it look downright dumb looking from all angles, same thing with those wheel spinners that look like they belong on a cart being pulled by a horse with Charlton Heston driving it ala Ben-Hurhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4722&stc=1&d=1316039781

I dont know I though they were steel like the muscle cars of that era although there is a mention on wikipedia about them switching from a fiberglass floor to a steel one in 1976.and this.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-tech-performance/352447-c3-fiberglass.htmlBut I read through some sort of corvette wiki awhile back about all of the changes throught the years and I cant remember it ever bringing up that the body was fiberglass' date=' maybe it wasnt straight fiberglass per say but rather plastic reinforced with fiberglass.so maybe I'm wrong in that sense but pure fiberglass could be lighter than plastic reinforced with fiberglass.[/quote'] The C1, C2, and C3 models of Corvettes were all fibreglass. The introduction of the C4 in 1984 was one of the first vehicles made from SMC - Sheet Moulded Coumpound, which was slightly different than standard fibreglass.-Regular fibreglass was "Good ONE Side" as it was laid or sprayed into a mould so one side came out as the shape desired and the backside was rough fibreglass strands. It was a chemical cure of resin by keytone peroxide which was basically an oil drier in lamens terms.-SMC was different in moulding technique as it cured the resin by pressure and heat combination. This gave the pressed parts a "Good BOTH Sides" texture and more complex shapes could be created, as well as getting the same strength as fibreglass with less mil thickness. Also the type of material could be altered such as adding Kevlar, Carbon fibre or Graphite, to name just a few of many, to the fibreglass mixture giving it better strength and making it lighter.Hope this answers any fibreglass vs SMC queeries????????One other quick note...the "Muscle Car Era" was essentially from 1962-1972 for the "BIG FOUR" Ford, GM, Chrysler and the now defunct American Motors. In 1964 Ford started using fibreglass on some models to "lighten" the chassis of these big block monsters. This includes the "Thunderbolt" which had fibreglass front end, doors and trunk and even the front bumper was FG! Nader put a quick stop to that...Only 106 units were ever made!Another was the "Galaxie lightweight" of 63 and 64 using the same techniques - front end clip, doors and trunk to lessen the weight of steel.Later on Mustangs Shelbys from 66-70 had lots of fibreglass parts including hoods and header panels, and valance panels and spoilersYou must remember that Corvettes were "Full Frame" design and had a heavy steel frame and windshield surround (on convertibles) all covered by fibreglass. Corvette hartops had a "roll bar" hidden inside the "T roof" types attached to the rocker areas.

Hmm maybe that's what the replica makers used to make their cars, I mean production of the replica's didnt start till Miami Vice really kicked in the ass in 84' so they could have been using the SMC technique instead, it would explain why they were boasting about the lighter fiberglass in brochure since all of the good replica's were made using the C3 not the C4 although I do like how the C4 replica looked from the front but the front only and that's the one mcburnie used on their business cardplus I found two survivor 79 vette'shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5hgXMOiipg

and honeslty I dont like the paintjob on the black one and the fiberglass looks rough, even the volo car in its rough state looked better than this before they restored it http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vemp_0611_miami_vice_ferrari/index.htmlbut on the other hand it could be the opposite or they could have been lying about it being lighter after what Brian's mechanic said about the thickness of the fiberglass on his car, they WERE used car salesmen after allwith the muscle cars the powerful ones did die off 1971 - 1972 but GM kept making their V8's and just cut them down on power to about the 200 hp range and tried to maximize their gas mileage out of them and some of them even had the option of full around disc brakes with the Camaro plus even then the big block Pontiac's didnt die like the one John Wayne drove in MCQhttp://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1097-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Am-1973.htmlor the Bandit's two pre night rider trans am'shttp://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_2514-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Ahttp://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_11169-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Am-1980.htmlm-1977.htmland people did take them and retune them to get the most power out of them but GM was the exception and they were the only ones to profit from this, unlike the rest of themand by the way I did rewatch S1 and with the volo cars rowley corvette plexyglass cover should make it look like it did in these shots from S1 that I liked ALL the time so I think this is definitely the plexyglass I want to go with as I like being able to see the headlights but I dont want them to chrome over or stickout from the body too much like it did with the clear plexglass and the reason why it looked like that is because it was an optical illusion caused by the chrome infront of the headlights from a distance causing the nose to look more silver from a distance but upclose it disapeared or from afar when the light didnt hit the nose from an angle like this head on shot:Eingefügtes Bildplus the stuntcar in the below shot had completely flat 2x2 headlights from the look of it from the home invaders there.

Well I just found my proof of concept with the original idea of going with the Corvette C5 mirrorshttp://www.vetteweb.com/features/vemp_0904_1982_chevrolet_corvette/viewall.htmlEingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildhowever please ignore the rest of that cars body, and it looks like the stem of the C5 mirror may need to be trimmed a touch but atleast now I know its possibile, and hell I could go for the thinner C6 mirrors if I think the C5's mirrors are too thickEingefügtes Bildand the reason why I think those mirrors will work is because the daytona replica seems to be like an inbetween of the C5/C6 corvette's (soon to be history from the looks of it if the 2012 concept C7 is real) sleak body Eingefügtes Bildand C2 corvette with its chrome bumpers and vintage wheelshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4804&stc=1&d=1317149298Eingefügtes Bildwhile with the corvette C3 where I do like the look of the ones without the chrome front bumpers built 1973-onwards

they really seems like a concept cars from the front as the nose seems too pointy and like it needs the chrome front bumpers of the C2 corvette to look right since its split on the rear into two pieces (which looks good) and its one solid piece on the nose which looks wrong and like it should be lower
just like it is on the daytona replicaand the corvette C3 WAS heavily based off of the mako shark concept car to begin with hence the nose, and personally I think anyone who thinks you should make your car look like a shark should have there head looked at to begin with.Eingefügtes Bild and the mcburnie grill seems to look like someone took one of the two split grills from the C3 and straighted it out and put it on, hence why its angled like it is on the sides of the C3Eingefügtes Bildand I did also come up with a new idea of maybe going with a mercedes mirror as well that seems to be the same shape as the tornado mirror, except more rounded and full but I cant find any shots of it or what model it was on but it was some sort of 230 of some sort.and on the topic of the grill I came up with a plan b for it if the cutdown and recessed Mcburnie grill doesnt work or I cant find one. Trim down the rowley GTC grill so it doesnt have the arched chrome on the sides like it is on the 1:18 hotwheels model of the daytona spyder they make, which is where I got the idea from when looking at my model of it a couple of days ago.Eingefügtes Bildso it only has horizontal bars like on the Mcburnie grill and the reason for that is when the light hits those arched sides it reflects off of it and draws away from the nose here, mind you thats more the slow shutter speed used on these photos more than anything else but my point still stands.Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildvs how it is with an all horizontal grill like on the miami vice carhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4805&stc=1&d=1317149300 and FYI my only problem with the Mcburnie grill is that to me it looks like it needed to be trimmed down and more recessed like on my first grill example herehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3682&stc=1&d=1306907220so you dont have it sticking out behind the bumpers making the nose look too wide, so cutting the edgles of the GTC would be the ideal inbetween for it like here in this modded version of this photohttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4806&stc=1&d=1317151272VS the orignalEingefügtes Bildits subtile but it certainly makes a difference

and the funny thing is that the reason why it was like that on the hotwheels car is because they were too cheap to make the headlights pop up like they were on the kyosho model of the daytona post 1968/1969 after ferrari used the pop up headlights to get around the ride height requirements, along with gm with the corvette:http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4808&stc=1&d=1317153748and the only reason why the grill was cut like that on the original was to make space for those pop up headlightsEingefügtes Bild so it was sort of a happy accident with there model making process there, although my idea seems to be closer to how the actual grill looks.Eingefügtes Bildmind you it looks like the rowley one isnt as well made as the real one or using the same materals from the looks of this photo or like they've got the top sticking out too far at the top when it should be the bottom that sticks out Eingefügtes Bildhmm maybe paint the top of the gtc grill too so the light doesnt reflect off of the top like it was doing in my photo after looking closely at it.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4807&stc=1&d=1317153538Alright I think that fully covers the Exterior, however the tires need to fill the body up otherwise the body either looks too wide because the tires are too narrow like here

or it looks like its standing on stilts like on this one with its narrow front tireshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4809&stc=1&d=1317154727basically the key is to find tires wide enough or big enough to fill the wheel arches entirely like on the Miami Vice Daytona with its pirelli p6 235/60 vR15or this rowley corvette I've been using as an examplehttp://www.photos-automobiles.com/shootings/ferrari_daytonaspyder/index.htmwith its Cooper Cobra Radial GT's of unknown sizewith the same size tires used for the front and the rear otherwise it makes the nose look too low to the ground like here
or atleast wide enough tires so the front doesnt look like if you hit a small bump its going to sheer half of the nose off or like its standing on stiltsand the mirrors are just as big a deal, I'm starting to think that its a futile idea to go with small mirrors otherwise the car looks too narrow as well like herehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4810&stc=1&d=1317154728So that's pretty much it for the Exterior but the look of the interior from the outside is just as key, but basically it boils down to this with the exterior for me:Base Car: Mcburnie/Markadian because of the flares and the Alfa Romeo/Ferrari door handles1. Tires like the Vice Car or atleast as close as I can get to it or purhape Michelin XWX VR195-70 ever try the bmw 2002 tires it had on it when it was first made, 2. Spinners are 3 tier spiners, NOT swept back as theres just a look those have over the swept ones that just look great, classic and timeless just like the ones on the Vice car and I want to go with Zentih wire wheel gold caps, or just gold caps, or no caps at all and cut to match the actual car in the middle like here Eingefügtes Bildlike it sometimes looked from afar like in the Pilot when he confronts his partnerEingefügtes Bildor the "Out Where The Busses Don't Run" long shot Eingefügtes Bild3, Flarewise my main problem with the flares in the first season is that they reflected light away from the wheels and the body during the shot of the spinners from the pilot here that was used multiple times through the first 2 seasons including "Heart Of Darkness" shown here
where the bottom half of the flare looks downright matt looking (which is what bugs me about the mirrors next to the gloss body) making that area look rather rough and almost like someone forgot to trim that area down like it was a rough molding pf somesort when they made the car. but I'm starting to think that the problem wasnt the flares but rather the fact that when the pilot was shot they didnt bother properly polishing the car for that scene as I noticed some sort of circles in the paint like the car was either dirty and had sun circles left by some sort of road residue on the hood during the "In The Air Tonight scene" and the fact that the car looked good with them during this shot in the episode "Milk Run"Eingefügtes Bildand this problem was compounded by the use of stock footage of the flares from the pilot when I presume they werent polished being used in the second season like in the episode Buddies during the Daytona chase with the 25 aniversary Corvette.http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16yfo_deux-flics-a-miami-daytona-replica_auto#rel-page-2 despite the rest of the car looking fantastic when polished uphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGFACUkr-USo I figure I'll just go by how they look in person rather than the show with this one, and if it turns out that they do bother me ill have them trimmed in the front AND the rear like they are on the actual car and the Vice City and Vice City Stories Cars and NOT like on that rowley corvette as the rear flare badly sticks out against the body when just the front flare has been trimmed down to the way it looks on the actual car hereEingefügtes BildVS the actual car:Eingefügtes Bild4. Grill is either a cutdown, rechromed, painted and recessed Mcburnie or a cutdown, rechromed and painted on the top GTC grill as to match the deep shine the real cars chrome grill has5. Headlights are square, either right next to each other, or next to each other and the housings are mounted at an angle to match the curvature of the nose that way I can use either the Rowley/Silverish plexyglass or the Smoked plexyglass without having that optical illusion show up from certain angles.6. Rowley corvette whitish/ silverish plexyglass cut to match the openings infront of the headlights exactly (otherwise it looks completely wrong) or go with something thats close to it like on the plexyglass used on the 68 in the first photo on this post and made so the plexyglass is completely flush over the nose like on the vice car with the ferrari badge sitting ontop of it, not recessed into it like on the Rowley Corvette I'm using as an example for the flares above7. Mirrors are Painted to match the body entirely, either C5/C6 Mirrors, Vitaloni Tornado or Baby Tornado mirrors, or the Vitaloni Baby Turbo/Electric Turbo mirrors used on the Lamborghini Countach LP400 till end of production in 89, Ferrari 400http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzD1iqL5xMcor Ferrari 308 (eurospec model's only)8. Radio antena is a modern unit made to look like it did when it was on the vice car in its closed position, without requiring it to be opened (theres gotta be a modern vintage looking unit around here like that)9. Ferrari 7 1/2 lettering on the top of the trunk only10. Tail lights rigged up like they are on the Vice car now, yellow outers, red inners as when they were the other way around it made the rear end of the car seem wider with the dark tail lights on the outside and the brighter ones on the inside to me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x3sJwoPejM&feature=relatedlike on the photo of the real one below, meaning its a problem with the design, red outers or all red tail lights just dont look right on itEingefügtes Bildhttp://www.finecars.cc/en/detail/car/139110/index.html?no_cache=1&ret=63 running lights are either going to be the yellow ones like on the show at first, mixed with the red brake lights or the other way around if the yellow ones bug me.and the optical illusion caused by those tail lights (causing the back end to look much wider than it actually is) was compounded by the fact that the tail pipes werent visibile in that chase from cetain angles. like the one at 1:30 making the back end look darker and drawing all the more attention to the illogical light set up and it looks really wrong to me to have the brake light be the outter tail light while the turn signal is the inside light, away from the road and thus not illuminating that side of the car when you want to make a turn at nightand I want to make sure that I use red tail lights that arent too dark like on the vice car
othewise it looks really wrong from the rear end even when set up logically in my mind11. Reverse light mounted lower or inbetween the rear bumpers to give the rear some definition12. Tail Pipe wise, either horizontal and mounted further inward like on Jurrasics car to cover up the stock corvette susupension or mounted like they were in the pilot, hard mounted and moved further in to accomplish the same thinghttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4811&stc=1&d=1317164360however if the car has some sort of covering for the rear suspension or an upgraded suspension like On Sonny Burnetts car I would try and replicate the Vice car like it was done on that rowley corvette as the rear suspension linkage would not be visibile with the independent suspension, except hard mounted to the rear like on that rowley corvette.as a sidenote I found this kind of funny, Ferrari used the same Alfa door handles used on the Miami Vice cars on one of there own cars, the 1980's Ferrari equavelent of the somewhat loved and odd but cool looking Lamborghini hatchback, the Espada on the Ferrari 400:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzD1iqL5xMc

13. Chrome ontop of the windshield (Sorry Nearly forgot this bit) now the thing about it on the vice car is that they damaged it for the hood shot in the pilot

Before the "In The Air Tonight" scenehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4819&stc=1&d=1317166698after http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4815&stc=1&d=1317166659leaving a dent in the chrome and ruining the seal between the windshield and the chrome strip in the front and they never fixed it and it showed up in the second season on occasionally like here in Florence italyhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4814&stc=1&d=1317166658and I believe it is still is that way http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4813&stc=1&d=1317166657so I'm kind of iffy about going with either the chrome on the top like the rowley and vice cars or going with what jurrasic has for his car which is a painted piece to match the color of the body from rowley corvetteshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4812&stc=1&d=1317166655http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4818&stc=1&d=1317166697and as the chrome acts as a marker ontop of the windscreen to tell you just how high the car is off the ground and looks good from about all the normal angleshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4820&stc=1&d=1317167296but not from above the car:Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4821&stc=1&d=1317169298so its kind of a wait and see thing but if the chrome is rough and damaged like it is on the Vice car I am going to have it either fixed or replaced so it mates perfectly with the windscreen on mine, however in the Vice cars case its kind of undenabile proof that it is THEE car from the show so in that case in a way it would be wrong to get it fixed now.14. the windscreen frame:Now the thing about the vice cars is that both cars have a matt frame on them http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4817&stc=1&d=1317166695and honestly I'm thinking about going with the same for mine as when natural light relfects off of the windscreen it actually draws light away from the car like here on jurrasics car with its gloss black windshield frame which I just noticed while looking at ithttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4818&stc=1&d=1317166697so basically I'd go with the matt frame and either the chrome ontop of the windshield or the painted gloss one from rowley corvettes on the top. but I'm also thinking the matt frame mixed with the painted chrome strip ontop painted to match the body would look really good on it, or matt windshield frame and a painted matt black chrome strip ontop of the windshield to completely hide it and match the windshield.15. Licence plate:basically as long as the number the DMV give me are good I'm not going to mess around with custom licence plates or plate numbers but I do want to get some sort of a licence plate holder that blocks that "Spirit Of America" crap they have on all massachusetts plates as if this is the "Spirt Of America" well... I know about all of the bad crap they pull here from watching the news, reading the newspaper, listening and reading between the lines and I can tell you this place does NOT deserve that title/sloganand I much rather prefer the New Hampshire slogan on my licence plate: Live Free Or Die, now that I can get behind!16. Tag Light, I definitely want to have a chrome tag light on it like the MV car

  • 2 weeks later...

You know I just realized something I'm not trying to copy and replicate the Miami Vice Daytona, I'm trying to copy replicate the Vice City Daytona's mixed in with the interior of the testarossa and the best bits I liked about the Daytona From the first and second seasons and what I like about how it looks nowEingefügtes BildEingefügtes BildBecause I saw these first before I even knew what Miami Vice was as I played Vice City first when it came out in 02' hence why I have been without realizing it at first trying to figure out how to recreate it in real life using a mcburnie as a basis since that was my first exposure to it, not the MV cars and with anything that you really like you always try to get something that looked like the first one you saw or atleast close to it. which would also explain why I liked the look of the nose of the Car in S1 when the badge was just under the hood rather than on the nose like it was in S2 Hence why I first natually gravatated towards the rowley replica first when I discovered miami vice since it looked the closest to the vice city cars with its cutdown flares, headlight covers that matched the curvature of the nose like the headlights of the vice city cars and the grill that more or less perfectly meshed with the body of the car Eingefügtes BildUnlike the Vice cars in S2 where I believe Carl did two or three things to the grill he shouldnt have (along with a few other things interior and exterior wise) he painted the grills a Matt Silver, rather than leaving them chrome since it stuck out at angles it didnt used to in S2http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4863&stc=1&d=1318322109http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4867&stc=1&d=1318322115http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4864&stc=1&d=1318322110http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4819&stc=1&d=1317166698and moved them further out to stick out more against the body and from the looks of it made the mounted angle more severe hence why it seemed to look too tight on the second shot there to let air in and I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if theres some mounting holes behind the grill right now from where the grill used to be in the nose, alteast on the top which would explain why from below the nose shots and above the car shots the car looked great but yet head on the grill seemed like a silver wall rather than a proper grill and also he didnt bother trying to repair the bottomed out nose which mixed with his camera mounts made it look like the lower half of the nose was badly damaged and allowed the engine mount to stick out from underneath the car and show up in this Vice Chase, thus drawing more attention to the huge wheels making it look like the car was on stilts from the front rather than a sleak, low to the ground performance car.

and then with the camera mounts themselves they were painted gloss which didnt go with the matt frame of the windshield and the Matt mirrors and since it didnt match the curvature of the side thats why it stuck out like it did, thus making the side of the car look more blocky and less sleak then it did in S1http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4865&stc=1&d=1318322112

Plus the chrome ontop of the windshield that was and has been damaged since the pilot which apparently to some people in S1 was a tell tale sign that the car was actually a corvette. specifically in the home invaders since it drew attention to the top of the winscreen that was exactly the same height as the one on the blue vette.something that's hard to miss in this shot:Eingefügtes Bildso it might have been a better idea for Carl to basically leave the grill alone, fix the damaged nose, cut the paint protectors down so they dont stick out from the body so much and paint them matt black and then get a new chrome strip for the winshield and have it painted matt black to hide that, blend it in with the rest of the matt windshield frame of both cars and help make it look more like a sleak italian sports car rather than a sleak vette with a slightly damaged windshield top.although I think they tried to hide this by putting the sun visors as high up as possibile, to draw away attention from the chrome strip to the sunvisors instead2:04

hence why they were so damn oversized in the second season and were constantly being put on and then removed in certain shots and it did work to an extent save for this shot:http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4868&stc=1&d=1318324087and I swear in some shots those sunvisors look like they were made out of wood of all things.

Now with S2 Carl overloaded the interior with black accents, specifically the back of the seatshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4872&stc=1&d=1318330951as you can see with the original door pannels theres already a pretty big black accent next to the seats so mix that in with the back of the seats and the vertical striping and it just overloads it, plus that bicyle reflector http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4874&stc=1&d=1318330954http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4875&stc=1&d=1318331067although the reason why it was like that is because there was only the reduced daytona striping on the seat and no vertical stripes on them once the car was built and in the pilothttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4871&stc=1&d=1318330949 same with the tonau cover in the pilot making the interior seem very subduded when it came to black accents http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4819&stc=1&d=1317166698and then with the tonau cover in S2 that it doesnt reach all the way down you've got even more black overloading the interior with black accents dramatically http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4876&stc=1&d=1318331650hence why the cars interior today with the new non accented all tan door pannels looks far better than it did in the show and its only got the carpet on the back of the seats now, not both the leather and the carpet like it did in the show and thus looks much nicer and more professional than it did though 84 - 87', however I think the door pannels were removed for two reasonsone they were very warn and had noticibile marks on the passenger side door from PMT jumping out of the thing instead of using the door handles and two I think the passenger side door lock broke during the shows run atleast once as in smuglers blues PMT had to reach outside of the car to open it on the passenger side.http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4877&stc=1&d=1318331711and with that tonau cover from S2 it makes it look like the seats with vertical striping need headrests since it seems odd for the tonau to stop dead like that there vs the volo car with its full tonau cover http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4876&stc=1&d=1318331650http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4878&stc=1&d=1318333376 VS this berlineta boxers (the forerunner of the testarossa's) seats which look pretty much like the daytona's seats when the car was built and how it was in the pilot save for the vertical middle stripe which I really like on it http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4870&stc=1&d=1318330947actually this would also explain why it did have headrests in the first place, it was modeled after the car that replaced the daytona, the 365 BB NOT the daytona itself which fits since in 1981 the 512BB which was an uprated verson of it was still in production at that point which also probably had that same style of seats in it and thus was a more modern style seat than what the actual daytona had:Eingefügtes BildAlthough with the MV daytona's current interior it seems to be missing one key thing now, the wood center console which is what the carpet under the dash was for, it served two purposes to keep you from marking up the leather when you got in and out of the car since the actual vette didnt have any carpet on its dash there:http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4873&stc=1&d=1318330952 and to make it look like there was some extra wood grain under the dash from afar as an optical illusion http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4875&stc=1&d=1318331067 since most ferrari's have two primary colors when it comes to the leather, then a carpet to accent it and then some sort of wood accent which 9 times out of 10 was a wood wheel hence why it was like that in the show. although when it comes to the steering wheel of the MV Daytona it came across as a personal touch from Crockett himself, same thing with the flag mirrors and as his wife's brother in law did work at an expensive car dealership as noted in the pilot he could have easily aquired it from there, hence why the mirrors and the steering wheel worked and still work for the interior

Now with me I am going to be doing something really different with the paint job and the interior with trying to replicate the look of the Vice City cars, mixed with the MV car and the Testarossa's first appearance look hence why I cant really go with the Flag Mirrors of the vice car, the chrome strip ontop of the winshield and a grill like the MV Cars had and that's why I want to reduce the amount of black accents my cars interior will have since I'm going to be making a mixture of three things with my car 1. the Vice City car from the front with the cutdown and recess Mcburnie grill, the Corvette C6 mirrors http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4880&stc=1&d=1318336543and an all matt black or an all semi gloss windshield and those headlights mounted to match the curvature of the nose like on the Vice Cars:Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildand this car:http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4881&stc=1&d=1318336545hence why I thought of going with the Audi UR Quattro's cibble units at first as it pretty much looks like I'd want it to although I dont think I'd be able to angle it properly to match the curvature of the nose like the 2x2 unitshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4879&stc=1&d=13183365412. the pilot look from the rear with the tail pipes or go with what jurrasic has to cover up the stock corvette susupension as I do want to go with a proper normal suspension (and ill get into that and all of the mechanicalls latter, but theres a damn good reason for going stock in that area, especally considering where I live and the monkeys they hire to work on the roads in MA) and the tail lights where they are now on the MV car plus a rear reverse light inbetween or down the middle of the tail lights to give it definition like I want to do with the car seats 3. Will be the color which is going to be black metallic like the Tesarossa "In When Irish Eyes Are Crying" mixed with that cars a cream interior and brown carpet but not the brown dash it had.Eingefügtes Bild

hence the photos I have of the Testarossa's interior in my Daytona folder and why I've been paying so much attention to the Testarossa despite it being in a dull color (should have gone with Pearl white or anything else BUT milk white) that doesnt suit it at all and brings out its boxy nose and I'll explain why I want to go with this color latter rather than the usual black and tan as I think I pretty much just wore myself out picking my brain like this for the past 2 hours.4. will be the interior next and what I want to do with the tonau cover.

'<ahttp://www.photos-automobiles.com/shootings/ferrari_daytonaspyder/images/ferrari_daytonaspyder_30.jpg' alt='Eingefügtes Bild' class='bbc_img' />http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4821&stc=1&d=1317169298so its kind of a wait and see thing but if the chrome is rough and damaged like it is on the Vice car I am going to have it either fixed or replaced so it mates perfectly with the windscreen on mine" data-date=" however in the Vice cars case its kind of undenabile proof that it is THEE car from the show so in that case in a way it would be wrong to get it fixed now.14. the windscreen frame:Now the thing about the vice cars is that both cars have a matt frame on them [IMG">

http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4817&stc=1&d=1317166695and honestly I'm thinking about going with the same for mine as when natural light relfects off of the windscreen it actually draws light away from the car like here on jurrasics car with its gloss black windshield frame which I just noticed while looking at ithttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4818&stc=1&d=1317166697so basically I'd go with the matt frame and either the chrome ontop of the windshield or the painted gloss one from rowley corvettes on the top. but I'm also thinking the matt frame mixed with the painted chrome strip ontop painted to match the body would look really good on it, or matt windshield frame and a painted matt black chrome strip ontop of the windshield to completely hide it and match the windshield.15.

Just an FYI-the trim strip around the windsheild is not Rowley, it is pure Carl Roberts and no longer available anywhere I know of. If you want one really bad, I am taking mine off this week. I have the chrome and the windshield surround ready to install. I have done all the changes I intend to do to the car for a long time. Once everything is done, I will post pictures. But living the real life of a vice cop doesn't leave much time for car work!!!Your posts continue to be interesting, keep it coming!!JN

Nah that's alright its going to take awhile to even build the funds to purchase one plus I plan on going with a 73' Vette first as a testbed to my personal and mechancial modifications which ill get into at the end, that way if I screw around with it I can still get my investment back and then I'll know what I want to do and what I dont want to do to the mcburnie for sure. plus ill figure something else out, hell I could probably do a DIY job on a chrome strip myself and then paint it matt or even just have it powder coated which is apparently nearly impossibile to get off once its done in that way although you might want to save that part and anything else you take off of your car trying to get it just the way you want it like this guy did with his 71' cuda back in the day

after all sometimes with personal customization after living with it for awhile you might get the sudden urdge to change it back to the way it was originally and then leave it that way for the next 30 years

Actually Jurrasic I just figured out what seemed off about the Roberts windshield screen, it doesnt line up with the lines of the windshield like the chrome strip did on the stuntcar and the actual vettehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4817&stc=1&d=1317166695Eingefügtes BildEingefügtes BildEingefügtes Bildhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4818&stc=1&d=1317166697http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4898&stc=1&d=1319128160http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4899&stc=1&d=1319128161Just like this Rowley corvette's nose piece http://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4896&stc=1&d=1319128157vs one with a clear nose piece that's cut to match the opening perfectly and seems to have some sort of odd oil like treatment made to it in france that gives it that silverish look I likehttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4897&stc=1&d=1319128158and you can see what I mean, if its not cut to match the original openings of the windshield and the headlights on the nose it just looks really off in those ways, like a kitcar actually like proportions arent correctand hell they put that Miami Vice sticker on the Volo car to draw away from the roberts windshield piece and to make it look like it all lined up just like it did on the stock vette windshieldhttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4900&stc=1&d=1319129132 and I also think they made their own nose piece to line up with the nose better than the normal rowley corvette one, atleast from what I can tell from this photo, its either that or it just looks far better with square headlights behind it than circular oneshttp://www.miamiviceonline.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4901&stc=1&d=1319129190
