Way up north in Florida on the state border Jacksonville has a beautiful unspoilt skyline much how it was in Miami circa 1984. Here it is current day from the St.Johns River when I was there recently.:glossy::cheers:

WOW!!  That is a gorgeous picture.  The colors, the lights.  This should be a poster.

Yesterday Aug 24th 1992 was the anniversary of the devastating mega hurricane Andrew's hit on the Miami area.  Very few things survive cat 5 180 mph+ winds.  Fortunately hurricanes of that magnitude are rare.  We got hit in the Tampa area last year but it was only a cat 1 when it got here. This is the height of the hurricane season, got my fingers crossed.  Below are pics of Andrew's aftermath beginning with the tip of Key Biscayne and the lighthouse (seen multiple times in Vice).

Great Jim - a very sad day. Even today when you are in parts of Coconut Grove and South Miami people still mention how destructive it was at areas such as Villa Vizcaya, Matheson Hammock and Bayshore.

Yes there is indeed. Right this way. Just follow Crockett and Tubbs' lead. :)

Seriously though would be interesting to know, I love fish.

I'm not sure if these two places are related:

http://garciasmiami.com/

Some more ideas:

https://miami.cbslocal.com/2018/05/30/best-places-for-fresh-fish-in-miami/

As far as cheaper, lesser-known places that the locals go to, I don't know anything about that.

Hi!

Are you sure? Most of the cars I see in this picture weren't available in the 80s. I guess the picture was made in the mid 90s.

Last night I had a dream that the location hunting gang at this forum was hunting the location of a scene with Trudy.  She was in her apartment at night and you could see the entrance had a wrought iron screen door.  The door had a distinctive pattern with large leaves, possibly hollies.  Something like this:

We had reason to believe it was in North Beach near Switek's place.  I was thinking that the next time I'm in Miami I could drive around there and find it by looking for that screen door.

A considerably less exciting dream than Crockett in "Shadow In The Dark".   :)

To our friends in Florida, we want you to know we're thinking about you.

Saying a prayer you'll all be safe and get through this storm  with a minimum of damage.

Thanks jpaul but I think the following is more appropriate for Floridians, at least for those of us who have gone through many hurricanes.  You prepare all you can, hunker down, and hope for a little luck.  Frankly I'm tired of hearing about it and we've still got to wait until Monday or Tuesday before it's all over.

A real interesting view and angle of the Downtown skyline circa 1991 from just above NE 2nd Ave and up NE 1st Street looking to the Courthouse and  Government Centre.:hippie::cheers:
