Matt5
Nice current day shots of Bal Harbor and the bridge ( we see many of these buildings still standing looking South) from the opening credits and closing credits. The tallest building in the picture is the Ritz Carlton constructed after Miami Vice. Edited April 1, 2019 by Matt5
Matt5
Interesting shot above the DuPont Plaza Hotel (“Lombard”, “Red Tape”) and of Brickell circa 1982 looking south. Edited April 2, 2019 by Matt5
miamijimf
This photo looks so much like the Wild West you would not be surprised to see Jesse James or Bat Masterson riding into town. But it's Miami in 1896, South Miami Avenue looking north from between South Second and Third Streets. South Florida, the Forgotten Frontier.

miamijimf
As heavy as the traffic is on the MacArthur, it's hard to believe they are closing it down even briefly. These would not be a great day to visit the Beach unless you are into walking tours. It is good to see however, a major film being shot in town. They must have brought back subsidies for filming. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/miami-beach/article228704544.html?mid=keywee_lead&fbclid=IwAR1j-7ocP08Sayt30hfKwlQFu5gOIbq7fJrlNTe6VfQASygxSQqGoX1lszs Edited April 4, 2019 by miamijimf

There is 8 days of filming in Miami for “Bad Boys 3” which includes the MacArthur Cswy, Jose Marti Park, Brickell City Centre overnight and The Broadmoor on Ocean Terrace (perhaps doubling as South Beach). They did the shoot went on all week - it was a disaster and there has never been another movie shoot on it since 2002 not even Miami Vice in 2006 which shot scenes on Brickell Avenue and the I95. (Although there were some aerials over the causeway to the Miami Herald in a teaser). BB3 are only shooting one afternoon on the MacArthur Cswy this time - the lions share of the shooting was done in Atlanta. They are shooting on Sunday but that is not a light day. On the MacArthur in 2018 we were stuck in traffic so long on a Sunday that we gave up and detoured into Star Island to turn around and head back to Miami. But Miami-Dade will survive.
airtommy
What are the most significant Miami River locations to visit west of Jose Marti Park? I'm thinking: Pilot - beginning & end of car/boat chase, OCB office Sons & Lovers - Falcon Diner Gerry Curtis boat ramp - Red Tape, The Savage There were a bunch of scenes filmed on industrial properties that are hardly worth mentioning because we wouldn't have access to them, they've changed a lot, and you hardly see any of the surroundings in the scene. For example, the two night-time meetings in Evan.

There’s something special about South Miami, lovely to head up from Deering to South Miami on the Old Cutler Rd.

airtommy
Some amazing old photos of Belle Isle and the Venetian Causeway here: http://belleisleresidents.org/belle-isle-history/ I didn't know that Belle Isle is a natural island (most islands in Biscayne Bay are man-made).

Well it is one of the older buildings but it would have been nice even as an establishing shot (rather the numerous LA stock footage shots we saw Seasons 1-5). But post production was done in LA.
