This is very interesting. Anyone know exactly where this was, or if it’s still there?:

I remember seeing a brief glimpse of something a lot like that in a MV scene.  Either "Made For Each Other" limo ride or "The Good Collar" limo ride.

Interesting about that Liberty City housing project. As far as i know the Series never shot there, but the 2006 Miami Vice movie did in the trailer park there at NW 79th St/ NW 19th Ave. Here is a great article on a still very troubled area of Miami.

I was thinking of "The Good Collar" limo scene, but it's not the same spot as this eBay photo.

Great find airtommy.

Good shot of the Julia Tuttle Causeway seen in Heart of Darkness and Brother's Keeper.  Five points if you can find the Freedom Tower.

So that's what the big white round thing is, haha. :) I didn't know, what that was and had to describe it somehow.  :) :p

That arena is where the Miami Heat NBA basketball team plays.  The owner said they will wear "Miami Vice colors" next season - seriously.

Anyone else having trouble accessing Jeremy's sffl.comcastbiz.net location pages?. It says at times they are not available.

The filming location pages have been moved to a new website: http://www.miamivicelocations.org But as I remember, whenever I viewed locations it was on this site. So the other one must have been unavailable long ago.

Thankyou I’ll update my laptop. I have the above on my phone.

I hope Jeremy updates and posts here also soon.

Jeremy posted on Tuesday.  Like many other members he tends to be semi-active at times.  Hopefully he'll transition into an active posting period soon because he adds so much.

Not a great video but gives you some idea of what it was like to fly from Miami to the Bahamas on Chalk's (Pilot, One Way Ticket, and Baseballs of Death).

Miami Vice used Virginia Key as a filming location many times (as did Burn Notice).   Notable examples include Jimbo's Place in Glades:

the beach on the eastern side of the island in the final scene of One Way Ticket:

and the big open sandy pit where the Daytona gets blown up in When Irish Eyes Are Crying:

Nature areas are rare in Miami and apparently we almost lost this one in 1995.  There was a proposal for a big development project and this article was written as if it was a done deal.  Somehow it was blocked at the last minute.

From that article I learned that South Beach, Fisher Island, and Virginia Key were originally all one connected piece of land.  In the 1830s a hurricane cut off Virginia Key.  Then in 1905 the government cut off Fisher Island in 1905 to create a shipping channel.

A nice little lake in the island was sadly turned into a trash dump.

Cool!  I love learning about that kind of stuff.  I always look at old photos and maps of Long Beach, where I live, to see the changes along the coast and inland.  My wife doesn't understand why I find it so interesting.  LOL!   We currently live in marina that was once wetlands.  :(  It's an all too common story.
