Great work ' date=' Jim:D[/quote']Thanks Matt but I haven't contributed much to the cause lately. Wait a few days until I post some photos that will hopefully confirm the filming location of the Turtle Shell Bar in the Pilot where Leon gets wacked.

It has been a while since we have been real active here so perhaps a summary of past events before we restart would be in order.I am reposting the summary I had posted earlier with updates to bring things up to date. Hopefully this will help to organize things without the need to read thru all the post to refresh your memory. If you are new to the thread I still reccomend browsing through all the post as it gives you an idea of the great work that has been done here by the group and it is an interesting read. I have culled the post from cases that are solved/closed to shorten things up. I have not copied the pictures mainly to keep the space usage down but I have listed post numbers to make it easy to look up the pictures in the original posting.I just went thru the entire thread and gathered up information to summarize the investigations thus far, to help keep things organized and running effectively. I hope it does. It may be of some help.Cold cases 1, 2, and 3 are solved/closed. Awesome.CC4:#54ok time (really past time) to get this thread active again. We started with the Milk Run drug lab that blows up. We developed some leads but so far not solved. I will call hat cold case #1. Then we had CC2; Ross' house from Golden Triangle 1. We solved that case. Yeah! Cold Case 3 is Biscayne General Merchandise (now solved) seen in multiple episodes with a street number of 202. CC3. Now I will introduce CC4:Heart Of Darkness. The rear of what is at least suppose to be (and may be)the restaurant. It is clear to me that it is on the bay but where? In the first picture I am attaching we can see some lights in the far distance (white arrow) some lights much closer but still across the water (blue arrow). Perhaps an island. What appears to me to be a moored boat with rippling water reflections in front of it (pink arrow).AS far as the building goes there is not allot there in my opinion other than the shape and proximity to the shoreline. However with screen captures where I have increased the adaptive lighting someone may recognize something.#55Tough one, not much to go on. It would be logical to think they filmed all the night scenes at the same time. Maybe they shot it close to where they shot the final scene at night at the Port Of Miami/Dodge Island? The back of the Blue Dolphin Lounge is a possibility if it existed. Restaurants don't normally have rooms with high voltage but plenty of buildings on Dodge Island have them. Perhaps the lights you see in the distance are a boat and lights along the MacArthur Causeway.#111RE: CC4; I think Trio, next door to the Crab House on the JFK Causeway in North Bay Village shows some potential but it may take boots on the ground to determine if it fits.#315Ref: CC4: Rear of restaurant from HOD. appears to be on bay-- unsolved. It was suggested that the incident with Artie was filmed behind the Crab House on the 79th Street Causeway in North Bay Village. This photo from boots (or sandals) on the ground last weekend makes this theory unlikely unless the building was greatly extended. Even less space between the building and the Bay behind the restaurant next door. No one could give us the history of the building.

CC 5:#73I communicated with a lady on Facebook who says she worked on the set of several Vice episodes and was there the night they filmed some of the scenes from HOD. She is pretty sure the "Blue Dolphin Lounge" was really the Tin Lizzie Restaurant (12500 Biscayne Blvd), and now gone, that was across from Pumpernik's. She also wrote: "I AM 100% certain that the shot of Crocket & Tubbs sitting in the car in the parking lot was the parking lot on the north side of the Tin Lizzie . . . I was there!!!" In reference to the scene where C&T meet Artie and the Porno gurus in a restaurant she wrote, "Also I'm 95% certain that the interior scene with the waiters and the girls dressed in white cocktail dresses was the scene they filmed inside the Tin Lizzie." This info, coupled with other info she provided, makes her sound like a reliable source.#77Here are two screen captures where I lightened the shadows to help id the Blue Dolphin. I see a parking garage in the bg that is large, Omni Hotel sized. I do not see pumpernik's.#78Ya it doesn't look good for the old Tin Lizzie (now occupied by Boston Market) being the establishing shot for the Blue Dolphin Lounge. I looked at the area on Google Maps and didn't see a building anything like the one that shows up in your enhanced photo. That area is a little too far from downtown to need a multi-level parking garage or high rise. However the lady is right about the parking lot being used in HOD and is therefore probably right about the interior of the Tin Lizzie being used for the meeting with C&T, Artie, and all. We know that the end scene of HOD where Tubbs gets in the limo with Artie and Kovics and his wire malfunctions started here. This makes her a credible source. That area is close to the studio and was used numerous times. Right next door is the old "Commercial Bank" building that we see behind Tubbs in "French Twist" as he races to the hospital to find Cindy who snuck out while he was babysitting. A clip showing that block was seen twice in "Deliver Us From Evil."#79Absolutely sounds like a great new source of information. I think it will only get better if we can further engage them. I say this because it has been some time since Vice filmed and therefore it may take some discussions to clearify the memory.I am a little doubtful that Tin Lizzy was used as the meeting restaurant in HOD. I believe that though renovated the Boston Market building is the same basic structure that was the Tin Lizzy building. To me this building is too small to have housed the restaurant we see in HOD. I will go back and watch the scene again but I don't see it. One thing that is clear is this thread is active again and that will definitely lead to cases being solved.#80I remembered that we see a great shot of Pumpernik's in Lady In Cement. I went and grabed this screen capture from my web site. It was filmed in 1968 and shows the Tin Lizzy as a lounge with a completely different building than what is on the site now. Thought it was of interest and maybe helpful. I will plug the movie in and see if there is a better view of the lounge.#81There was a better shot of the aea from 1968;#82Maybe hard to read sign but it was the Motel Rancher. I have not found much on it other than it was a cabaret Lounge and the owner did 3 months punking with the brothers up in steel town for bribing an IRS Agent.#104Fantastic job finding the exploding lab house Charlie- never lost faith that it would be found but a few doubts were starting to creep in.Ref CC5 I think we can call the interior bar scene at the end of HOD found. The FB lady I mentioned is a retired cop who grew up in North Miami and worked there for over 20 years. She worked security for this episode among others and several movies made in Miami. She wrote: "My dad knew the owner of the Tin Lizzie and we ate there often. I know for a fact that there were interior bar scenes that were filmed inside the Tin Lizzie the night I was there. A friend of mine from high school that i had not seen in a long time until that night was one of the extras." I gave her the link to watch HOD on line and she watched it for the first time in years and then wrote: "Thanks for the link to the NBC website with the classic TV episodes. I watched HoD and the interior bar scene at the end of the episode is definitely inside the Tin Lizzie . . . 100% certain of that." I looked her up on line and she seems to check out. Also we know that the Tin Lizzie's parking lot was used in HOD so it would make sense that they used the interior while there. The location of The Blue Dolphin Lounge (or the place supposed to be the Lounge) used as an establishing shot for this bar scene is still a mystery.#319CC5: Regarding the exterior of the Blue Dolphin which has been reported to have been near the studio. With the historic aerials website I found a no longer existing building on Biscayne blvd. opposite the San Soici Estates just south of the studio. Approx address would have beed 11860 Biscayne Blvd. Of note is the canopy or marquis leading out to the street and general shape and position of the structure. Any ideas on tracking down a visual of this now gone building?

CC6:#109I think it is time to introduce cold case 6. From the Pilot, The turtle shell tiki bar where Leon gets wacked. There is an abundance of clues yet it stays hidden.Believed to be Chateau Motel in Sunny Isles. 19115 Ocean Blvd.Miamijimf is headed that way to get pictures. Hooray!CC7:#183introduce Cold Case 7:From episode 14 Golden Triangle, the home of Castillo's wife. This house has been found here, case closed great job.

CC 8:#314LARRY'S HOUSE: I believe I had skipped over posting cold case # 8. There is not allot to work with but I post it for two main reasons. 1 is that maybe someone has some knowledge that will help narrow down the search and this is a great place to gather that intel.# 2 is that I did some screen captures and then increased the adaptive lighting which revealed a unique looking building in the background that could be helpful.I suspect that the whole row of houses was torn down to make way for a new development which opened up this house to being available to be blown up. Anyone have any behind the scenes photos or intel? Anything?#589I was just watching this episode and noticed a couple things that might help. The driving scene leading up to Larry's house may not be and in fact likely was not directly by his house but it maybe in the area and may provide some clues as to what area to look in. I increased the adaptive lighting in several screen captures and spotted a unique building by the road that they drive by. Their drive starts on a straight road (no bigie there) at least a few hundreds yards of straight road with a double signal light seen in the background (2 red lights). Then the road curves to the right (our left) There is the building followed by what must be a gas station. This seems similar to where the south end of Pine Tree Drive meets Dade Blvd. ecept there was not a gas station there and it is only two lanes. We are looking for a road that curves and is three or more lanes of traffic in the direction they are travelling and likely the same in the other direction. Makes me think of Collins Ave. in N Miami Beach but I can't place it. This should be an easy find but so far I am stumped. Then they drive by what I suspect are tennis courts (another limiting factor, multiple courts together)Then past a unique piece of road where there seems to be another road very close in the bg with just low cement covered area in between. This should be easy to find, three lanes with a curve and a unique building by a gas station but so far...nada. What do you all think?#591Could this be the tennis courts?https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=miami&...2,29.1,,0,5.63#592Possibly, it seem to have only 4 lights in a row going north-south instead of 5 and has an extra row east-west but it is still somewhat possible. I like the area

CC9-A: CC9-B is solved #210Traynor's house in Rites of passage is worth a shot. It's similar to the Evan house on Sunset Island 2 but is located at the end of a circled drive. Interesting that we did not find it so far.#219Front view of the Traynor House (possible circular driveway) notice the steps up to the front door (Key Biscayne house?) something interesting here though, the house seems to have lots of trees and shrubbery around it, giving it a secluded look and feeling.#223I watched the episode again and it won't be easy. To keep us organized I am going to assign this the title of Cold Case 9. Then divide it into CC9-A and CC9-B based on the party house and the Apartment being two different locations. Lets say the party house is CC9-A and the apartment is CC9-B. It may seem like we are missing CC8 but I will get back to that.#227CC9-A: I also noticed that the party house has a fireplace. Very rare in Miami even in high end homes. May help confirm the house from above when combined with the driveway.#238From the interior shots at the party, Tubbs sees Valerie's sister by the upstairs balcony so we also know we are looking for a two-storied house. Outside, there are also about 5 or 6 steps up to the front door with three very tall palm trees to the lefthandside of them. These can be seen in the screencap with C&T walking up the steps.#240The whole front yard is heavily and deeply covered with vegetation. So much that you cannot see out to the street even when making the picture light..

CC10:#247CC10:I was just taking a look at The Great McCarthy and I discovered something which leads me to introduce cold case 10. I think this one should be relatively less hard to solve for a cold case compared to some of the other seemingly impossible cases we have solved. I say this because of the "limiting factors" that I see. The location is fairly limited as to where it could be. I am talking about Vanessa's house as we see it at the end of the episode. I took a couple of screen captures and increased the adaptive lighting shedding light into the shadows. Several things appeared that make it findable, possibly readily findable.1) There appears to be a sizeable private boat in the background.2) The driveway goes up a man made incline toward the home.3) There is a narrow residential street that the driveway comes off of and behind it is water. It appears the road travels immediately along the waters edge.4) There is land or possibly a causeway in the background right.5) The driveway is not a cheapy but a nice and unique red colored drive.6) The drive has a unique shape as it comes off the street and then appears to exist both to the right and left.7) It appears that the front doors should be readily visible from the street and they are unique. There are limited occasions where the road runs along the water so it should be findable. I am going to fire up my google earth plane now and start looking. Study the pictures and let me know what you see and think#2481) I can clearly see a Causeway and supporting concrete columns in the background. 2) Is it a boat or a building?3) "U" shaped driveway?#249I thought it looked like a house boat but I could definitely be wrong on that. Could be a smaller house. The drive comes off the road at an obtuse angle and then cuts to the left at an acute angle suggesting to me an irregular shaped lot with the house not sitting parallel to the boundaries but angled.#250On CC10, I've been looking around for Vanessa's driveway. I've had a look on Key Biscayne & my hopefuls weren't built in 1994 when Google Earth's history shots begin in this area. As it's been mentioned that the roadway tiles look expensive, I've had a look at Coral Gables, checking where roads are between a house and water: 540 Leucadendra Drive looks quite good however there isn't roadside view to see close up what the driveway paving is like nor the front door. There is an unobstructed view of the water opposite. On checking the online registers, this house was built in 1969 & even in the 1994 GE view the horseshoe shaped drive was there. I'm not sure if anyone knows how we can get a closer look (and for any others I might find where streetview isn't available)?#262C Glide - I rewatched the episode last night: when Tubbs is at Vanessa's boutique & he is trying to get a date with her, she says to him "Come to my place for lunch" then the next time you see them with Sonny & McCarthy they are getting up from a dining table. Sonny goes outside with McCarthy where they discuss business. The view from the house looks like the mangroves growing to the water. Am I right in thinking this scene takes part at her house and not McCarthy's?#263I always thought it was his house. She works in a clothing store so would not make enough to own a house. He runs drugs so I assumed it was his house and she was his house guest with benefits. Interesting point, worth taking another look#264I just rewatched what CarolineUK is talking about and I have to say, good job Caroline!! I totally missed that. Also, Vanessa had Gifford skimming McCarthy's books (200-250,000) so she might be able to afford a house of that quality. If Mr.C.Glide doesn't mind..I'd like to introduce evidence photo's C10-D, C10-E, C10-F and C10-GPhoto C10-D Look over Tubbs shoulder, there are 2 buildings in the background.#265Wait a minute. These pics show the party house at 28Harbor Point, Key Biscayne. I doubt that Vanessa's house at the end was filmed there.#267I think we can confirm this. Watch the Video!#268The driveway and main road to the driveway is a straight road as where this house is located in a cal de sac#269the question is: is this the elevated entrance from the final scene of this ep? The brick-paved driveway is there as is the elevation... http://maps.google.at/maps?q=28+harb...66.96,,0,-2.15 ... but the background looking in the opposite direction has no causeway and is not as open as in the episode.#2701. Seems to be some confusion here at least for me. The real life location of the lunch and party were never in question, at least not for some years as we knew it was filmed at 28 Harbor Point on Key Biscayne. The only recent question was which character was suppose to be living there. The nice pictures posted by Pink Flamingo kind of confuse me because we already know this house was the location of the filming of those scenes (party lunch etc., feel free to look at this ep. on my location site). I guess the question being asked is does this house offer the opportunity that it could have also been used as Vanessa's house at the end of the episode. The answer is definitely not. Way too much does not match up. However; knowing how they like to use an area for more than one location is why I believe the area is worth looking at despite no obvious places that likely match up, Causeway etc. It is a findable location. To me the unique shape and orientation of the driveway is the most readily identifiable piece of the puzzle especially compared to the water and angle at which the drive leaves the road. #271Tom, it certainly has 1 of the 3 things needed to solve this but your right, no causeway can be seen. Even if the house across the street was not yet built at the time of filming, the Rickenbacher Causeway would be the one in view but I believe we would hardly see it on screen because of the distance , especially at night. The other thing I noticed is the driveway in the screen cap has a solid strip of concrete going throw it but the driveway in question does not.#274Posting this because it may help a little in the search: Just cruised slowly thru all four Sunset Islands with Streetview looking for CC9-A and CC11 with no luck. Beautiful homes but of course many are hidden by the vegetation. Also I discovered the style of most is more conventional than the homes we are looking for.#534I agree with you & Matt When we last were on this case, I was looking along Harbor Drive, Key Biscayne. There were expensive-looking paved driveways and there is water on the opposite side of the road. Later I will be looking at the current map view & street view versus the 1980s aerial one. It's been said on here that they are not allowed to build on Key Biscayne but they can remodel. If anyone has exhausted this particular stretch of road, please let me know & I'll look elsewhere. Thanks!!#535from a location logistics perspective, the house should be on Key Biscayne (as other locations of this ep are there too). But disturbs me a bit is the "causeway"-like road in the background which is an argument against Key Biscayne.#537I rewatched Golden Triangle parts one & two last night: as Lao Li's house is in Key Biscayne, I wondered if Castillo's wife's home might be there too (if vice liked to have their locations close together) or if it is in Aventura, seeing that they used the Turnberry Isle condos? I don't know Aventura so am not sure if we might find her home here.I know we are looking for Vanessa's house but I thought the two locations might overlap given McCarthy's villa and Lao Li's are in the same area, and filmed quite close together time-wise that the location manager could have chosen them for logistics purposes?#553I mentioned back in post 262 about Vanessa's location that was put into CGlide's recap on this case (CC10), I asked for clarification on the following: when Tubbs is at Vanessa's boutique & he is trying to get a date with her, she says to him "Come to my place for lunch" then the next time you see them with Sonny and McCarthy they are getting up from a dining table. Sonny & McCarthy go outside where they discuss business. The view from this house looks like the mangroves growing to the water. Am I right in thinking this scene takes place at her house and not McCarthy's?If the mangrove scene was at Vanessa's then she must have lived on a spit of land with a water-following street at the front and mangroves at the back (or at the side of the property).# 556Thanks for that, Pink! The address is incorrect then on this site's glossary. After I did the last post re my confusion, I had a look around Key Biscayne on aerial photos and google maps. I've been looking where a road with houses on one side would have water on the other side to try and find possible areas for its location. Most of KB doesn't have roads like that, even back in the 1980s. There's a crossing onto Mashta island; a causeway at Mashta point (but can't see houses on there for the 80s so think that is a no-no), close to the open space just south of the McCarthy house there used to be a house there which has now gone - I'm not sure how much vegetation there was opposite the disappeared house by the water's edge; lastly there are houses on Harbor Drive close to the Key Biscayne yacht club where you can see the water though it's not as close as the screen caps. There doesn't seem to be a true waterside road at all on KB or have they filmed it at an angle that the water looks closer than it is?#557Sue I thought the very same thing as you, KB location doesn't seem to fit for finding Vanessa's house. Tom also mentioned he felt the causeway in the background of one of the screen caps would be the major hang up. IF in fact that is a causeway and a house or house boat in the background I feel Vanessa's house is located somewhere close to one of the causeways. Another thing to consider is the angle of the camera location when shooting this scene, if you look from the causeway back towards Vanessa's front door/driveway, not many places fit the location. I also wonder if this wasn't a house but maybe a townhouse or condo.. just a thought. One last bit of info. When Tubbs comes down the stairs inside the house, the stairs are a spiral staircase with a half round wall made to fit for the staircase, this wall should be an out barring wall, noticeable from the front of the house. The driveway looks to be wide enough for 2 cars, which makes you think there is a 2 car garage with this home. This is going to be difficult to find , it was filmed at night and the darkness hides so many clues.#558Maybe they filmed it at night for precisely that reason - to hide the location as the surroundings may not have fit the episode? Even back in the 80s, the aerial views don't show many possible spots for the watery roadside and then when you discount the wrong driveways etc, there doesn't seem to be a match. But would they have bothered to move the whole crew away from KB for one scene?Below is the area just south of the McCarthy house where the house was demolished after 1986. Might they have shot the scene with the car on the helipad as though it was a road? I haven't looked at the screen caps from the ep today as I'm just off to work so I might be very wrong but at least it can one to be discounted. Number 1 is the demolished house, number 2 is the McCarthy house#560Oh well, at least it has been dismissed from our search. We're fortunate having access to an aerial site & the 1986 version is very clear but still it shows that at that time most of Key Biscayne had houses up to the shoreline and that the roads seldom went close to the shore. I've been looking at Mashta Point but there were no homes on it in the 80s; with the area close to it - although there were some plots without buildings so a view of water would be possible from a road, the waterline wasn't close enough. The eastern side of the key has beaches so the road is too far from buildings.I've also had a look at No Name Bay and the northern KB Tony Rome area but nothing seems to help. I suppose as the driveway was an expensive one, it would be in a richer residential area rather than on the peripheral of the key? Finally, would we throw out the idea of Vanessa's driveway being close to a waterline up near the studios?#562I spent a good bit of time on this today focused on Key Biscayne and a little on the Sunset islands. I failed to find anything. Had one prospect that got me a little excited but after further investigation I had to rule it out.#565I've spent hours over the past few days looking at every street close to water on KB, going between historic aerials and current aerial/birds eye view/streetviews without seeing anything that looks promising. I put the house south of McCarthys into the mix in case it was under our nose like the Ramrod and the nearby apartment block. Here's another: there's a large space in the 1986 aerial view on the west end of Cape florida Drive (around No. 260). There is now a very large house in the south but the road paving looks older than the building and the pattern is swirls, like that at Vanessa's. There were houses built between 1980 and 1986 and one of the original ones has been demolished and the land is unused. Might they have reused the paving from the earlier house? I'll post the aerial shots as it could have looked like the road was closer to water before it became built-up:1980 view

CC12#345Introducing Cold Case 12: This location is absolutely findable, but it will take some searching by Google Earth or like. I have not spent time searching for it yet but I will now. It is the horse ranch (except establishing shot from CA.) from One Way Ticket. Most likely it is in the west or south. It looks like it had and may still have a greenhouse. It is such a large facility it is/was likely a community ranch or other type club. There was a large BBQ made of brick that would likely still be there.Large metal stables#3481. I think it may be somewhere near or in Fort Lauderdale, because the airfield scene was filmed there. #350Thinking along those lines I did some searching around the Davie area last night knowing that is a big horse community in Broward County. I also looked north of the gun range on NW 58th Street that Crockett used. I basically went from the range up to the county line. No luck so far. It definitely looks like a higher end place. The odds are not as good I would think but it is possible they went up to Palm Beach County where they have some big money horse stables

CC13#415Introducing Cold Case # 13: From Down for The Count part 1. The Bravo Gym. Also found here in this thread, Case solved.CC14#259Time to introduce CC11:Mrs. Goldmans house in The Home Invaders. More is seen of the insdide than the outside but when I increased the adaptive lighting to lighten the shadows I believe we get a pretty good look at the house. Enough with all you great detectives make it findable. We see the driveway, relative size of the house and boy is it a unique design.haps Coconut Grove. Does anyone recall? If not here are some screen captures.

CC15:#576Cold Case 15: Here it is. I think miamijimf has suggested good case to solve so here is our new cold case: The fire station where Hackman is hiding in episode 89 Deliver Us From Evil. I know this has been looked at before and failed to be found in the previous attempt, I believe at .org but I believe this group, with our technology, resources and brain power can absolutely find this fire station. Yes I said fire station and I don't believe it has been called that before. I am however; 70+% sure that this was filmed at an old Miami fire station. Why do I say this? First as they first go inside we see tiles on the wall that are exactly what one would see in a utilitarian government building like a fire house. Color, style, construction all are what I would expect to see in a fire station and not allot of other places.Second and maybe even more direct evidence is that there is an old fire engine in disrepair, possibly stored as a parts truck, seen sitting in the open bay. See picture 1501:Third we see large window areas that could have been garage bay doors to accomidate fire trucks, Picture 1502:Fourth, the tower we see in the initial establishing shot that to me looked like a watch tower at a prison maybe built for a totally different purpose. If this was a fire house, this tower may have been for drying the hoses after use. They pull them up the inside of the tower where they can dry hanging vertically. Standard practice at a fire house to dry the hoses in this manner before putting them away. Picture 1503:some other things we see that may help are a radio tower in the distant bg and what I b elieve is a section of elevated metrorail seen in the near bg. Picture 1504:Unique delivery bay area, 1505:Unique entrance area that should be seen in aerial photos: Picture 1506:This may not be a fire house at all but it certainly looks like a municipal junk storage facility in an old city fire house so that is the direction I am going and if it is it will be easy to track down. It would likely be near downtown with a metro rail going by and some fire fighting history site would certainly have information on the site. The case is open Detectives!#578Another limiting factor is the hill. The back road to the loading area maybe a design of the facility but the paved road where C+T are parked on the opposite side of to watch the building is also on a significant incline (seen in picture 1504). Hills are very rare in Miami and usually lead up to a bridge. Very rare.#579I took a trip around the 1986 aerial following the metro rail lines but did not find anything. I could have easily missed it but there was nothing that jumped out at me. Based on the camera angle and the tight shot this could easily have been filmed in downtown though it is meant to look like an isolated spot.I will keep looking.#580Ref CC15. The radio tower in the background is one of the keys. Here is an interesting web site that will allow you to search for existing antennas and those that no longer exist. I used it in an earlier search for this location but didn't see the firetruck and other stuff that Charlie just saw. I had the mistaken idea that it was along the Tamiami Trail or Alligator Alley. Looked at it recently with no luck but maybe someone else can make use of it better than I could.http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrS...tionSearch.jsp#581I am going to look at it now. Starting in the downtown area and working out, cross referencing the location of extinct fire houses and the metro rail should locate the hideout.#583I pull up 300 potential towers in Miami-Dade County. I went through the first 200 of the potentials. Couple interesting locations but nothing yet. I will try more later.#584I just re-watched the scene where Blatt ... B-L-A-T-T, Blatt walks into the hideout and I counted 3 fire trucks (circa 1940-1950?). Also, the glass windows have a unique look and style to them which should be a big help finding this building (if it's not demolished).#587Usually berms like that are near highway off ramps, airports or water works buildings. I don't know about Miami though. That really looks out of place. Could it be a recycling center or something like that? There's a ton of garbage at the bottom of the ramp, it just seems weird for a fire station.#588am thinking the garbage is from people who dump there because no one is around. My guess is this was a fire station that became obsolete so the city is using it for a catch all storage location. Office furniture, old trucks etc. I know stations 1-4 downtown but I have to find a list of the others. 2 and 4 ( I believe, going from memory) we see used in Vice so maybe this is another.

Before I post a new case I want to give myself and anyone else who might be interested a little time to take another stab at CC15. This spot really should be found. Likely a fire station, no doubt a public/govt. type building next to ramp and a hill. Should be found.

maybe it´s just a crazy gut feeling, but maybe the fire station where Hackman was stashed was on in South Beach near the alley where Crockett&Tubbs left the car in the opening credits of Streetwise. CGlide posted a screenshot of the Travolta movie of the same area and there is a big antenna in the background that could match - I would have to check the episode on DVD. As far as I can remember (I lived in Miami in the early 90s) there was no big antenna at the southern end of Washington Ave or the area around -and I don´t recall ANY area within the city border with a kind of hill as seen in the background. My best guess is the reason why we could find it is because this area has changed tremendously in the late 80s (the Ramrod and Romano´s place have been demolished as well) and has been remodelled completely. The fire station looked abandoned and a major construction could be an explanation for the "hill" next to it if the whole area has been worked over shortly after shooting (which was in March 1988).

The radio tower was there in the 80's and is still there today. Maybe around the Fountain of Youth School but I can't see there ever being a hill in sobe except the Alton Road flyover.

Just returned from the trip. Saw the Marlins vs. the Braves at the new Marlin's stadium where the Orange Bowl used to be. Fantastic place, huge and state of the art in every way. Wish they could have saved the old Bowl but this stadium has to be one of the greatest things that has happened to Miami lately. In the hope of finding the beach scene in the Pilot where "Izzy" kills Leon I visited Sunny Isles Beach at 18911 A1A. This monstrosity of a condo (Ocean III) now sits where I think the Chateau Motel used to be. Looking at the condo from the beach this older building is to the left. This is from the S. side and it looks like it has been around since the 80s.Here is a shot from directly behind the Ocean III taken from the water line showing the width of the beach. Here is a shot looking N from behind the Ocean III.Here are some shots of the old building to the left of Ocean III (looking from the beach).Continued next post.

This nlast picture is most likely to be the one that helps id the spot. I will look at it tonight. Nice job. I think they could have picked a much more appropriate location for the stadium.

This is a continuation from previous post.Another shot of old building to left (South) of Ocean III.Here is a shot looking N (to the right of Ocean III.Another shots of the old building complex to the S of the Ocean III.The unusual long windows that you see in this screen cap from the Pilot.Look somewhat like the long windows you see in these shots of the building to the left (South) of Ocean III. None of the other windows seem to match. The portion of the old building's complex on the right in this photo.could be a new addition (it looks like it). I guess that would mean the wooden Turtle Shell Bar, most likely a temporary structure, could have been next to this older complex rather than the Chateau? In the Pilot scene you see a very low concrete wall. There is similar type small wall (now with a fence on top) in the above two photos. The width of the beach from the low wall to the water seems about right. To me it's far from enough to say the location matches but it is interesting. The area has changed dramatically and it seems like a long way for Vice to drive to film a beach scene. Looking forward to what everyone has to say about it.One more photo in the next post,

Still on cold case 6. From the Pilot, The turtle shell tiki bar. Here is another photo from the Bldg S of the Ocean III. Doesn't seem to be a lot of room between the bldg with the long windows and the low concrete wall but maybe the pool is new? Overall I don't see a match with the scene but maybe I'm missing something.

I just finished up (for the most part) work on a Burn Notice episode so I can now redirect my attention back here. I am going to have to do some work on this one to wrap my brain around it. This area is so likely that I believe it will be worth my time to take an old sat. picture from the period which I have and identify each building and organize the pictures I have to make a "panorama" of the beach as it would have been in 84 making sure evey building is accounted for. Then I think we will be able to solve the mystery. I have my suspicions but I have to get all the data fresh in my mind again so I can have a shot a solving this one. Great work Jim. I will start fresh on it in the morning. BTW. there is 1 particular behind the scenes photo of the scene where they show several of the buildings to the south of the Turtle Shell Bar. One of the members here has it as their avatar but in low resolution. If anyone has it in a higher resolution please post it here. Better yet, lets post any of the behind the scenes still photos that you have so we can gather all the clues here. To be continued.

Okay, I am taking a closer look at this now (though tired, and should probably wait cause I may not be thinking straight) It seems that your photos are around Ocean 3 at 18911 Collins not Ocean 2 at 19111 Collins. Correct?
