Built in 1982 sadly demolished, I was so pleased I managed to see this building in 2011. Quite likely the shore power hookup next to the woman's leg was used for the lights of the phone booth. I was a little young to have taken photographs of Miami during WWII but I do have an old family photo of my Dad taken during the war in Miami Beach when he was taking an electronics course there. Beach goers were treated to a tanker torpedoed by a Nazi sub. Wish I could find a pic of that. Interestingly the Miami Shipbuilding Corporation (Vice OCB) manufactured rescue boats called Miamis. I have a pic somewhere. They lost out on the PT boat contract but were the largest civilian employer in Miami. Good sized MP force was apparently needed. No room at the Inn. Biscayne Blvd. Sub chaser training in Government Cut. Twenty minutes after surrender (probably on VJ Day) on E. Dadrian, that happened a few years ago when a cruise ship capsized off the coast of Italy. Matt, I hear you about the old boardwalk but the new one is going to make bike riding and skating for skates (more customers etc) a much better experience.
