Miami is a survivor. https://www.smithsonianchannel.com/videos/the-devastating-1926-hurricane-that-halted-the-growth-of-miami/56799 Thanks for this great video! Highly recommended watching! It's incredible to see all those boats washed ashore. At 1:34 I believe that's the newly opened Floridian Hotel (a.k.a. Biscaya) which I wrote about here . At 1:51 we can see the newly built Freedom Tower (where the sniper is perched as he shoots Lt. Rodriguez). They have become a Fla trademark/icon. Last I heard Hialeah Race Track was still operating and now has a hotel and casino. It just occurred to me that the flamingos in the opening credits might have been filmed at the old Parrot Jungle instead. I know from old videos that there were a lot of flamingos there. If so it would explain the hedges in the background. I'll bet the parrot shots were filmed at the Parrot Jungle.
airtommy
Mentioned in another thread, the George Michael "Careless Whisper" video was filmed in Miami. I'm not sure where this marina was, but very very likely Coconut Grove: Also not sure, but probably Coconut Grove just south of the Convention Center: Edited July 8, 2018 by airtommy
airtommy
We see Chalk's Airlines and the view from Watson Island, all very familiar to Vicers. airtommy
This is looking north. Bottom left is Rivergate Plaza next to the Brickell Bridge over the Miami River: bottom left is Wyndham Grand Bay from "Cool Running": Off in the distance is the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables: Where is he standing and in what MV episode do we see this building? miamijimf
airtommy you asked "Where is he standing and in what MV episode do we see this building?" Looks like the Grove Towers Condominiums, 2843 South Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove. Also in Burn Notice.

Matt5
Nice current day shot almost exactly as the opening Miami shot in the teaser of the Series finale “Freefall” in 1989 covering the northern end of Brickell. Administrators James Posted July 18, 2018 Administrators Report Share Posted July 18, 2018 An update on the Miami Grand Prix, looks like they made some slight alterations to the track layout. Looks like everything's on schedule for October 2019. There is also plans for a pop-up "fan festival" this year where they'll close off a road and have some F1 cars drive about to generate interest and publicity, basically to promote the event. So that's something to look forward to for Miami. https://www.motorsportweek.com/joesaward/id/00266?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

Matt5
This was sent to me - interesting as I don’t know the exact location- in particular the walking bridge over the street. I’m thinking north Collins Avenue but it’s not in Miami Beach. Anyone recognise it? Quite distinctive.
airtommy
It sure looks like north Collins Ave, but I couldn't find it so I scanned northward and found it in Hollywood. The footbridge connects the Diplomat Resort with its docks and parking deck: https://goo.gl/maps/uYRVqLoLBhv 2

Matt5
A different current day shot of the Rickenbacker Cswy bridge, taken from what seems to be the Port of Miami. We see this view in “Tale of the Goat” and Sonny’s boat was moored here in “By Hooker By Crook”.
pahonu
Anybody know the location of these shots? I'm joking. Hope none of our Miami locals stared too long at these, It's actually Long Beach where I live, not Miami. I was looking through a website of skylines of Miami and entered my city to see what they had. I was struck by some of the similarities. I remember CSI Miami being filmed here. One episode was right at the marina where I live. Here's the website if anyone wants to browse. I am in no way affiliated with the site. Looks to be over 100 shots of Miami. http://www.skylinescenes.com/categories Edited July 22, 2018 by pahonu
