Good photo Matt.  If you look at the earliest photo of the Everglades compared to this one you will see that they had shortened the top of the tower for some unknown reason.  Years earlier Jimmy Hoffa saved it from going bankrupt.  Maybe the mob buried him in it somewhere?  I remember it looked kind of run-down inside even in the 60s.

Thanks Jim appreciate it .  I never realised your info !

A real estate friend send me this today from a condo off Brickell - a slight variation on one I posted a few weeks ago. This is a 2018 picture and a number of great Miami Vice locations at a unique angle for us.:hippie:

This was sent to me Today - a very interesting shot (current day) above the AA arena and Biscayne Bvld in Downtown Miami. Interesting as we get a good view of the Port of Miami / Bayside and the stretch of water we see in the opening credits (Edward James Olmos credit) of the show.

Best close up I have seen of the top of the Freedom Tower.

I agree it’s great Jim.:hippie: Almost a 1984 “Hit List” view.

This was sent to me Today - a current day view from above the Downtown side of the Venetian Cswy above 1000 Venetian Way all over the Sunset Islands to Abe Resnick Bvld in Miami Beach. Pretty cool! Just makes you think of “Heart of Darkness”, “By Hooker, By Crook”, “Bought and Paid For”, “Lend Me An Ear” and “Shadow in the Dark”.

Nice pic but I have to mention:  DanJ used to say Abe Resnick didn't deserve to have a street named after him, a major developer who was responsible for the destruction of a lot of classic properties including, I think, the Senator Hotel.  It used to be called Arthur Godfrey Blvd.

The pink flamingos are seen in the opening montage and the closing credits of every episode in all five seasons but my guess is not many know where they were filmed.  They have become a Fla trademark/icon.  Last I heard Hialeah Race Track was still operating and now has a hotel and casino.

Every time I see a photo of Freedom Tower I just picture the hitman at the top aiming towards the marina. :)

I agree .. definately with this shot, Jim was right I don’t think I’ve seen such a detailed shot of the top of this tower.

Great Jim - do you know the exact location?

I visited the Hialeah Park and Casino In 2014 (reopened not long before) and all the flamingoes were by the lake in the middle of the track. It was operating like Gulfstream as mainly a casino with racing.

That's a tough one Matt.  Gotta be next to the infield lake, that they inhabit.  I think they are running towards the lake.  Historic Aerials for 1980 and 1986 shows what looks kinda like hedges (seen in the background) in the grassy area in front of the grandstands and next to the lake.  That's my best guess.  Interesting community of birds that have been there since 1934.  It is the only place where the species has been successfully reproduced outside its wild state.   The park is on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a National Audubon sanctuary.

Very interesting Jim I’ll go back and post the pictures I took in 2014.

This was sent to me today a rare angle we don’t see too often of a current day Bal Harbour looking south.

Of course we see BH during the opening and end credits during the five year run of the show. But several episodes too, “Down for the Count” (pt 2), “Dutch Oven”, “Home Invaders”, “Milk Run” and the Pilot.

A variation on the ones I posted before- Ocean Drive, December 1983 - looking north from The Park Central this time.

Flip this shot looking south it’s how we saw Ocean Drive in “The Dutch Oven” as we saw the two babes cross the street as Sonny played cards with his old friends.:hippie:

Good pre-Vice era photo.  Do you know the date?
