Matt5
In 2005 and 2006 I spent a long time in Miami and Beach and thought it would be nice to share some photos over next few days from 2005 and 2006. Miami changed a lot after 2006 and up to 2006 you can see many "Miami Vice" locations and buildings as they appeared in our show. Pic (1) Biscayne Bvld, June 2005. Pic (2) From the Clarion Hotel, June 2005.

I wonder if MV used it at all.

I wonder if MV used it at all. Don't believe so. According to the articles that quote the book Scarface and Vice were influenced by the hotel and its patrons but Scarface could not get the OK to film there so it's unlikely Vice could get it, if they tried. In the mid-80s the owner was increasingly worried about its image. Edited June 8, 2018 by miamijimf
Matt5
Some more images from my photos - this time from two months spent in Miami and beaches in 2006. The skyline of Miami was changing a lot at this point. Photo 1 and 2 - Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas Bvld ("Whatever Works"), June 2006. Photo 3 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach (July 2006) 2
Matt5
Some more from my time in 2006. A very interesting shot from May 2006 I took from the top floor of The Hyatt Regency Hotel, 400 SE2nd Ave, Downtown Miami looking south. You see many elements of the Miami Vice skyline on Brickell at that time - not as much Today. Edited June 9, 2018 by Matt5 1

Matt5
A friend sent me this on twitter today a current day aerial of Collins and The Doral in Miami Beach- set in Miami Vice history for the Pilot episode, “Trust Fund Pirates” and the numerous car drive scenes we saw on this stretch. 2
Matt5
I took this picture in July 2003 when I first went to Miami - The Everglades Hotel was still standing on Biscayne Bvld! (This hotel was seen in many background shots when Crockett was on the St. Vitus Dance at Bayside . Also was seen in "Hit List" and "Out Where The Buses Don't Run". The building was demolished in 2005. Edited June 14, 2018 by Matt5
miamijimf
Good photo Matt. If you look at the earliest photo of the Everglades compared to this one you will see that they had shortened the top of the tower for some unknown reason. Years earlier Jimmy Hoffa saved it from going bankrupt. Maybe the mob buried him in it somewhere? I remember it looked kind of run-down inside even in the 60s.
